VAZ-2106, or "Zhiguli-6" - a car that was widespread in the Soviet Union and is known to all Russian citizens as the "six". This improved model VAZ-2103 in the sedan body belongs to the III group of the small class. From 1975 to 2005, more than 4.3 million units were produced from such factories as Volzhsky Automobile, Roslada (Syzran), Anto-Rus (Kherson), IzhAvto (Izhevsk).
All developers tried to combine price and quality in the VAZ-21031 model (as it was originally called) to make the car affordable. Manufacturers abandoned the chrome finish, but included good lighting technology. V. Antipin and V. The changes concerned not only technical characteristics, but also color and stylistic ones: the background of the sign became black (instead of cherry), the interior upholstery was presented in only a few colors (although there were a large number of them before), chrome and wooden elements were removed. All this can be seen in the photo. "Zhiguli-6" vividly demonstrated all the updates. In 1975, red and yellow cars were produced in a limited edition with new engines.
Equipment
Engineers tried to change the internal content. Thus, the car received a unit with a working volume of 1.6 liters (the operating power was 78 "horses"). All this became possible thanks to the increase in cylinders from 76 to 79 mm. Also not spared and the safety of the car. In the new version, preference was given to installing inertial belts and a standard fog lamp.
Zhiguli-6: Models
The VAZ-2016 car received various serial modifications. For example, from VAZ-21061 to VAZ-21066, VAZ-2016 (Izhevsk), VAZ-2016 ("Tourist"), VAZ-2016 ("Half past six"), VAZ-21068. The original characteristics of these cars were the same, they differed only in seats, grilles, engines and other elements.

But there are several opinions: some believe that the carburetor is the most reliable, while others are convinced of the complete absence of any advantages. The speed of Zhiguli-6 reaches 100 km/h in 17.5 seconds, fuel consumption can vary from 7.7 liters to 12.0 liters, depending on the carburetor.
Four-speed or five-speed manual transmission matches the specifications of the car, it is simple and affordable. Automatic transmission is not available for this model. The wheel diameter is 13 (R13), which is quite good for a sedan of this size.
Exterior
The front of the body has a clear, rough, butneat lines, they round off next to the head optics. Two round headlights on each side make the car unusual, original and not so rough. Also in front there is a plastic radiator grille with small frequent ribs and a factory badge. The whole car is designed in a fairly strict style. There are no frills, and the chrome trim on the sides of the body only complements the overall look. The rear of the car also has both rounded and expressive lines. Trunk capacity 345 l.
Summarize
The car was in demand until 2000, at the moment the equipment and model is outdated, but this is a good option for the middle class. Its appearance does not fit the European standard, but the car is reliable and working. Of course, it will not be possible to purchase a completely "zero" car now, but the Zhiguli-6 is still being sold on the secondary market.
The price is quite low, ranging from 15 thousand rubles. up to 50 thousand rubles, and sometimes reaches 70 thousand rubles. A significant criterion is the general condition of the car. For comparison, in 1986, the model that came off the assembly line was estimated at an average of about 9 thousand rubles.
So, the classic Zhiguli-1600 car now occupies a confident position among the domestic auto industry, perhaps not the most fashionable and comfortable model, but reliable and simple.
