The VFR series originates from the RVF750 and RS race cars. But for the first time, the V-4 engine was installed on the VF750 road bike, which was presented back in 1982 and combined practical design with excellent technical characteristics. In 1998, the VFR 800 made its debut with the RC45 engine. In 2002, the "800" was equipped with an upgraded fuel injection system, which was recognized as a revolutionary new V-TEC injection device, with the ability to change valve timing.

Universality of the model

By 2010, the Honda VFR 1200 motorcycle began to acquire some features of an SUV, long-travel suspensions were installed on the bike. The seat and handlebars are adjustable for a straight seating position and secure control over the bike. The car became multi-purpose, the parameters of a crossover-SUV were added to the sports and tourist image. In 2012, the motorcycle received a new transmission, which included two options: fully automatic gear shifting using a dual clutch, or manual gear changes using push-button controls located on the handlebars.
