Exide Technologies traces its history back to 1888, when W. W. Gibbs, having acquired patents from the French inventor Clement Payen, founded the Electric Storage Battery Company. As you have already noticed, Exside did not immediately get its sonorous name. At first it was called the Electric Storage Battery Company. So where did the sonorous "Exide" come from? Few people know that electric vehicles appeared before internal combustion engines. Some of these "frisky horses" could reach speeds of up to 40 km / h. In 1954, the management of the concern decided to separate the production of batteries. So there were two independent divisions: automotive and industrial. This decision was dictated by the need to better serve these very different markets. But there is another factor that keeps Exide at the top - the manufacturer has always assembled batteries with the latest technology. The products performed so well that the government gave the go-ahead for the use of EXIDE nickel-zinc batteries in all subsequent Apollo lunar missions.

Acquired in 1987 by General Battery Corporation, making the company's product line so broad that it could literally be used in every vehicle in the US.
