The first Monster Truck appeared in 1971. This Bigfoot was designed by Rick Long. As his basis, Rick chose his own car - a four-wheel drive Ford F-250.

The Bigfoot engine is located in the base, in front of the car. The Monster Truck engine is mechanically supercharged and runs on kerosene. Here, the cylinder capacity can reach ten liters.

The "Bigfoot" car is equipped with huge wheels that rotate with axles borrowed from heavy trucks along with a planetary gear. All trucks are endowed with hydraulic steering. Moreover, the front wheels of the structure are controlled by the steering wheel, and the rear derailleurs. As a rule, the Bigfoot machine uses Terra tires.

Most trucks have modified or purpose-built automatic transmissions. For example, such as Ford C6 transmission, Turbo 400, Torque-flite 727 or Powerglide. Some trucks are equipped with a Lenco transmission, which is strongly associated with drag racing. Automatic transmissions are equipped with transmission brakes. Details and knots are reinforced.

And what requirements must the driver fulfill? Before the trip, the Bigfoot driver is required to wear a helmet, two fireproof suits, neck protection and seat belts. Most of the moving parts inside the cabin are protected by screens. And equipment that operates under high pressure is securely held by straps.
