Many people love compact sports cars for their restraint and fighting spirit. One of the famous manufacturers of luxury roadsters is Porsche. Along with the famous Cayman, Carerra, 911 models, the company released an open sports car of the 2017 model range. The Porsche Boxster 2017 is the version that is taken as the basis for many of the German concern's Coupes.

Updated Convertible

The fourth generation of the roadster was first introduced in March 2016. The model has undergone many external changes and updated technical components. Thanks to all the restyling, the car acquired a new name - 718 Boxter. The numbers in the name have roots from the version of the Spider car, which was produced in the 50s and 60s of the twentieth century. The sporty roadster appeared alongside the famous 2017 models Cayman and Cayman S. This fact helped to attract attention to the new convertible.

Specifications

The facelifted model comes standard with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. The power of such a power unit will be equal to 300 horsepower. Agree, the Porsche Boxster has rather modest characteristics. Thanks to the robotic gearbox, the car accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. Fuel consumption in the combined cycle is about 7 liters per 100 km.

The second Porsche Boxster engine with the S prefix produces 350 “horses”. With the help of a 2.5-liter unit, the car crosses the mark of 100 km / h in 4.2 seconds. This model received the prefix S in its name. The appetite of the motor is a little more serious - 7.3 liters of gasoline.

Appearance

The appearance of the new sports roadster remains recognizable over the years. This can be seen in the photo of the Porsche Boxster 718. The developers installed a new front bumper, which is significantly different from the previous generation. At first glance, you notice the fresh adaptive head optics in the traditional Porsche teardrop shape. Daytime running lights are now integrated into the main headlight with LEDs.

Unlike the rear optics, the shape of the stern has changed markedly. The company got rid of a variety of stampings on the bumper, from now on it flaunts smoothed shapes and smooth lines. A twin exhaust pipe is installed in the center. The headlights have received modern lighting elements.

As a glazing, the developers did not use anything new. Just like the windshield, the convertible roof is similar to the parts found on the previous roadster model. In just 9 secondsa closed sports car turns into a stylish convertible. This function is only possible at speeds up to 50 km/h. The rear cover of the engine compartment has a small wing that creates proper aerodynamics at high speeds.

Interior decoration

The interior is very ergonomic, the work is done at the highest level. The quality of the materials is excellent and will be pleasing to the eye and touch to all owners of a German car. Genuine leather, Alcantara, inserts made of aluminum and expensive wood are a hallmark of the German concern Porsche.

Stylish three-spoke steering wheel with control levers and gearshift paddles is very comfortable for the driver. The instrument panel in the classic three-well look is beautifully illuminated, making the dials easy to read. A Porsche signature clock adorns the center of the dashboard. The console has a 7-inch touch screen of an expensive multimedia system. The controls are very responsive to the touch of your fingers. The sound quality is at a very high level and will delight you with the clarity of reproduction.

Because the Porsche Boxster is a sporty roadster, it's no surprise that side-lock buckets are used to better support the driver in tight corners. The seats have many adjustments in different directions, as well as the function of heating and ventilation. Between the front seats there is a console for the climate system controls and various additional options. Also in the center is an ergonomic gear levergear.

In a two-seat cabin, two adults of fairly tall stature are quietly located. Pleasantly surprised by the fact that the roadster has a pair of luggage compartments. The volume of the front is 150 liters, and the rear - 125. But even with such amenities, there was no place for a spare wheel in this car.

Pros and cons

Let's consider the main advantages of the roadster, based on the feedback from the owners:

• excellent fuel consumption;
• dynamic motor;
• excellent grip and stability on the road;
• open top to keep out the sun in hot weather;
• stylish and bright appearance.

Despite the positive aspects, the model has some disadvantages:

• expensive service;
• on Russian roads there is no way to reveal the full potential of the engine;
• hard suspension;
• small trunk space;
• when the roof is raised, landing for people above 180 cm is not very convenient.

Safety performance

Porsche Boxster is equipped as standard with a fairly large set of security systems:

Representatives of the Porsche company did not postpone the start of sales of the sports roadster and opened orders in January 2016. The cost of the 2017 Porsche Boxster for our consumers starts at 3,900,000 rubles, subject to standard equipment. Prices for the S version start at a minimum of RUB 4,513,000.
