Not so long ago, Ford introduced a restyled version of the Ford Focus ST. The show was held at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The place was not chosen by chance, the car exudes speed and dynamics.

On this track, those present were lucky to get acquainted with a "hot" hatchback from a European manufacturer. Well, let's take a closer look at the 2015 model.

Appearance

Let's start our review, of course, with the appearance of the car. As a result of restyling, the hatchback has noticeably refreshed, but still it has become more like the updated Fiesta. The changes were mostly minor cosmetic.

The main new thing is the front of the car, which houses the bi-xenon headlights. Adaptive optics creates a strict look and changes the angle of illumination depending on the turn of the wheels. The system also monitors the distance to the vehicle in front and lowers the beam of light.

Slightly changed the relief of the surface of the hood, and the grille has decreased in size. The air intake has become larger, the front bumper has become largerand got fog lights. The wheels of the Ford Focus ST, as well as the front of the car, have been updated and create a more sporty look of the hatchback. The wheel arches are perfect for wheels with a radius of 18-19 inches.

The back has changed no less than the front. An impressive spoiler appeared on the trunk lid. The bumper has become "bellied" and the developers installed a double tip of the exhaust pipes in its central lower part.

Together with the hatchback body, the Ford Focus ST station wagon was produced, which differed from the smaller brother by the absence of a rear wing, the length and internal volume of the trunk.

The interior has been updated less than the exterior. Finishing materials of very high quality and many details are reminiscent of the sporty and daring mood of the Ford Focus ST. Before the eyes of the driver is a modern steering wheel, an informative on-board computer screen and bright gauge dials on the dashboard.

The central part of the front of the dashboard has acquired an 8-inch touchscreen monitor of the Ford Sync multimedia system with the ability to control speech. Sport buckets securely hold the driver and front row passenger during tight cornering and during emergency braking.

Regarding the second row of seats, we can say thatpassengers will be comfortable. There is enough space in the back for three people.

Trunk capacity with rear seats folded down is 1150 liters, standard position is 316 liters.

Technical indicators

The manufacturer installed two types of engines under the hood of the Ford Focus ST: gasoline and diesel, which is the first on a charged hatch.

Let's start with the traditional 2-litre EcoBoost petrol engine. The power unit allows you to develop a maximum of 360 Nm thanks to 250 “horses”, which accelerate the car to a maximum of 248 km / h. The speedometer needle crosses the 100 mark, after 6.5 seconds from the start. The engine is combined with a 6-speed manual transmission. Note that the specifications of the Ford Focus ST delivered to the United States of America are slightly better than the European versions. The motors of such machines produce 256 horsepower at 366 Nm of torque.

For the first time in the "Focus" line, the developers used a 2-liter Duratorq TDCi diesel engine as a power unit. Thanks to changes in the intake and exhaust systems, the developers managed to increase the power of the standard diesel (150 hp) by 35 units. With the help of a 6-speed manual transmission, the hatchback accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. The maximum speed for a charged diesel "Focus" is modest - 217 km / h.

Independent MacPherson system front and traditional"Multi-link" - behind. Compared to the previous version, the springs and dampers have become stiffer, which improves the handling of the car. Disc brakes reduce the stopping distance of the machine.

The manufacturer "dug" in the settings of the steering wheel, resulting in increased control over the Ford Focus ST at high speeds. Rollover is eliminated thanks to the use of electronic Transitional Stability and new engine mounts.

Modifications of the charged hatchback

Hot "Focus" is available in three equipment options:

• ST1 - version with fabric interior and standard equipment and systems.
• ST2 - a model with a combined interior. Combining leather and fabric, the interior is fresh and modern.
• ST3 is the richest and most expensive car. Salon exclusively with black leather seats. The dashboard is made of soft plastic, which is also pleasant to the touch.

As a security system, a standard set for this class is used with minor additions, due to the impudent nature of the car. A modern frontal obstacle warning system will not only notify the driver, but will itself begin to reduce the speed of movement. This function works only at low speeds (up to 50 km/h). Parktronic is included as standard, thanks to which it will be much easier to park in tight streets.

Also new is the stability control system, which allows you to keep the trajectory inlane.

Cost in Russia

Prices for a charged Ford Focus ST range from 1,200,000 to 1,500,000 rubles. Basically, it all depends on the version of the seats and the presence of bi-xenon headlights. Surprisingly, the station wagon will only be available in ST2 and ST3 trim levels.

As a result, we can say that the car is suitable for people aimed at driving and leading an active lifestyle. Sports appearance will not allow you to stay away, and shows your attitude to your opponents. Ford has created a truly beautiful and reliable hatchback that has great prospects for the future.
