In 1995, the Japanese company Nissan introduced its new model, the Almera N15. It happened at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Its predecessor was the Nissan Sunny. The model appeared on the markets in the same year. Three years later, the car was restyled. The release continued until 2000, until a new generation of Almer came to replace it.

Car features

Nissan Almera N15 belongs to the "C" class. It was produced in three body styles":

  • Sedan.
  • Hatchback with three doors.
  • Five-door hatchback.

Depending on the type of body, the dimensions of the car were:

  • Length from 4.12 to 4.32 meters.
  • Width from 1.69 to 1.71 meters.
  • Height from 1.39 to 1.44 meters.

With such dimensions, the clearance remained unchanged in all variants. It was 140 millimeters. The wheelbase, equal to 2535 millimeters, has not changed either.

Basic equipment included driver airbags, power mirrors, power steering and stereo.

Among the advantages that Almera N15 had:

  • Good looks.
  • Spacious interior.
  • Strong construction.
  • Soft suspension.
  • Good momentum.
  • Repairability. Repair of Nissan Almera N15 is not a big problem due to the availability of spare parts.

Among the shortcomings are poor optical illumination, low ground clearance and poor sound insulation.

Technical components

The Nissan Almera N15 engine was installed with two fuel options: gasoline and diesel.

In the first case, the power units had a capacity of 1.4 to 2.0 liters. They gave out power from 75 to 143 horsepower. The torque value varied between 116-178 Nm.

The diesel engine was only offered in one version. And he necessarily had a turbocharger. It was with a two-liter displacement and a power of seventy-five horsepower with a torque of 132 NM.

All car models are front wheel drive. The transmission was offered with a choice of five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.

Disc brake system. Front suspension spring type. The back is semi-independent, made according to the so-called Scott-Russell system. It is a combination of a stabilizer and a beam located on trailing arms.

Models of the first stage

The first stage included the period from 1995 to 1998, that is, the period before restyling. In addition to the basic configuration, there were other options for equipping the car. Their functionswere supplemented separately and could be installed at the request and choice of the buyer.

Thus, models with a 1.4-liter gasoline engine had fog lights on the front bumper. Aerodynamics and appearance were improved by a rear spoiler. Since 1996, it has become possible to install alloy wheels with a diameter of fourteen inches. The 1.6-liter models had the same wheel size.

Models with a diesel turbocharged two-liter engine were mounted on alloy wheels with a diameter of fifteen inches. An integrated backlight was installed on the rear spoiler, repeating the brake lights. In addition, turbocharged models had a more "aggressive" appearance. This was achieved by overlays on the side sills and splitters (like the BMW). There were models without such improvements. They were equipped with simpler plastic splitters. In terms of technical characteristics, diesel models featured a higher suspension and a faster steering rack.

Restyling models

In 1998 Almera N15 models were restyled. These models differed in the shape of the front bumper. All models were equipped with front splitters, integrated spoiler brake light.

Turbo models already had a body kit in a circle. If desired, the buyer could completely abandon the body kit.

In 2000, the second generation Almera N16 replaced the Nissan Almera N15.
