Opel Insignia debuted in 2008. It has become a replacement for the popular middle class model - Vectra, produced since 1988. "Insignia" surpassed its predecessor in every way. The Opel Insignia model replaced the inconspicuous third-generation Vectra with a beautiful car. It is completely different from the previous ones in its design, technology and, of course, quality. Initially, the Opel concern offered cars with a sedan type body to motorists, but later a hatchback and station wagon were offered.
"Opel Insignia" has absorbed the features of a sports car, it is swift and aggressive, but it looks pretty solid. "Insignia" is characterized by smooth curves, harmonious lines, the falling roofline emphasizes the dynamism of the car's appearance. The protruding wheel arches give the model a special charm - muscularity combined with grace. The expressive shape of the headlights in the formwings, a solid radiator grille create an integral dynamic structure that emphasizes the uniqueness of the body shape. Opel Insignia has low aerodynamic drag (Cd=0.27). When driving at high speed, there is almost no noise from the air currents. The complex unusual cascading design of the bonnet creates an indescribable play of light and shadow, it emphasizes the special emotionality and dynamism of the body.
"Insignia", in addition to the sports body, has the best interior in its class. The developers offered three finishes. The "Elegance" package is characterized by interior trim in dark brown plastic with titanium-like overlays, it has a spectacular mesh texture. The "Sport" version can be identified by the black plastic, the seats are upholstered in non-slip, large-ribbed fabric. In this configuration, the overlays are painted in piano lacquer. The top-of-the-line "Cosmo" package is characterized by wooden inserts and a combined leather/fabric finish.
"Opel Insignia" The station wagon looks much more stylish than the sedan model, and is called the "Sports Tourer".
The line of power units "Insignia" is represented by: gasoline engines 1.6 liters with a capacity of 115 liters. With. and a volume of 1.8 liters with a capacity of 140 liters. With.; the next are two turbo engines - 1.6 l (180 hp) and 2.0 l (220 hp). The top version of the Opel Insignia is equipped with a 2.8 liter V8 Turbo engine with a capacity of 260 hp. The range of engines also includes diesel powerunits: 2.0L (110HP), 2.0L (130HP) and 2.0L (160HP). The basic version of "Insignia" is equipped with a mechanical six-speed gearbox. An automatic six-speed gearbox is available as an option.
There is a modification of the car with all-wheel drive, the basic version has front-wheel drive.
During the tests, the Opel Insignia scored the highest number of points and was recognized as the safest car according to the results of crash tests according to the EuroNCAP system.
The car "Insignia" may well go down in the history of the Opel concern as the embodiment of a new concept of the company and become its "face" in the 21st century. Reliability, safety, comfort, speed - all these qualities characterize the new Opel Insignia.
Owner reviews boil down to the fact that this model can compete with such monsters of the automotive industry as Audi, BMW and other brands. Of the shortcomings, only high fuel consumption is called, but what did you want - this is the price for owning such a luxurious sports car.
