Model history

  • Generations K1 and K1 were produced from 2001 to 2002. An updated version of the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 motorcycle has replaced the GSX-R 1100 model andequipped with an injection engine with a capacity of 160 horsepower. The lightweight titanium exhaust system and construction allowed the weight of the bike to be reduced to 17 kilograms. You can accelerate the superbike to 100 km / h in 3 seconds, the maximum speed is 288 km / h.
  • The release of generations K3 and K4 started in 2003-2004. The model has undergone restyling: Suzuki engineers have increased engine power and improved the handling of the motorcycle. The weight of the brake discs was reduced, radial four-piston brake calipers replaced the six-piston mechanisms. Suzuki has redesigned the sporbike with LED brake lights and based on the Hayabusa.
  • In 2005 and 2006, the K5 and K6 generations of the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 were released. The motorcycle received a new chassis, engine and frame. The power of the power unit increased to 162 horsepower, the volume increased by 11 cubic centimeters. The diameter of the front disc mechanisms is 310 millimeters.
  • The K7 and K8 generations of the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 received a redesigned exhaust system that increased the bike's weight by 6.5 kilograms and lowered emissions. Suzuki engineers improved the bike's aerodynamics and increased the size of the throttle bodies to compensate for the increased weight. Engine operating modes are changed by the on-board computer.
  • The K9, L0 and L1 versions of the sportbike were released between 2009 and 2011 and have undergone a major overhaul, including a new engine and Showa front fork.
  • In 2012, another restyling of the motorcycle engine was carried out. The Suzuki GSX-R 1000 received Brembo front brake calipers replacing the Tokico calipers. The curb weight of the sportbike was 203 kilograms.
  • Models produced from 2013 to 2016 differ only in new color shades.
  • The release of the new generation Suzuki GSX-R 1000 L7 was announced in 2016. The model received a VVT valve timing system and a semi-automatic suspension.

Suzuki's flagship model, the GSX motorcycle, is frequently updated, affecting almost all components and assemblies of a sportbike. The main changes affected the engine: engineers completely redesigned the injection system, changed the shape of the pistons, installed a new injection system, titanium valves and a slipper clutch.

Engine modes

  • Initial - mode A, combiningfull power settings;
  • Mode B - reduces engine thrust at low and medium speeds, but maintains full power.
  • C mode is designed for how many road surfaces and features low engine speeds.

Exhaust system changes

Not the last role in the characteristics of the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 is played by the installed twin mufflers. Engineers usually use this configuration when they are trying to achieve a compromise between even distribution of power at any speed and power at maximum speed, which was achieved in this sportbike. Although the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 is equipped with mufflers, you can still hear a pleasant exhaust sound as the revs increase.

The hallmark of the GSX-R 1000 is its wide range of settings and adjustments. One of them is designed for footpegs, which is very convenient and allows you to customize the motorcycle for yourself. The seat of a sportbike is not very convenient and comfortable, however, it significantly exceeds similar bikes in these parameters.

The suspension fitted to the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 is quite stiff and has a lot of adjustments. The handling of the motorcycle is confident, all the sensations from the road are well transmitted.

Sportbike Suzuki GSX-R 1000 is an almost perfect motorcycle that meets all the expectations of motorists. With excellent handling and dynamism, the bike, unfortunately, is not designed for long trips, which,however, it is typical for all sports bikes.
