MAZ-5440: power and strength on the road

In 1997, the production of a car called MAZ-5440 was launched. This machine was originally designed as a commercial truck for any distance. This engineering brainchild will be discussed in this article.

Collaboration

MAZ-5440 was created by Minsk specialists. However, German specialists from the MAN concern were also involved in the development of the car. Starting in 2000, the Minsk Automobile Plant began to produce an improved model, which was assigned the A8 index. The novelty has received a high degree of comfort, excellent endurance, resistance to the harsh conditions of our roads, unpretentiousness and relatively low cost. All this in total provided the truck with great popularity in the consumer environment. In general, the machine received a fairly large number of new technological solutions, thanks to which it received a quality certificate in the Russian Federation without any problems.

Positive qualities

MAZ-5440, the photo of which is given in the article, is equipped with a reinforced suspension, and therefore the car easily overcomes poor quality roads and other obstacles in its path. In the case of proper operation of the machine, all its components and parts can last a very long time up tocarrying out a major overhaul. In addition, the operation of the tractor showed that its maintenance does not require large material costs, and this, in turn, led to a large number of vehicles sold.

MAZ-5440, in comparison with its foreign counterparts, has one, but a significant advantage - relative affordability at its price. In addition, the truck fully complies with Euro-3 standards. The machine is often used as a road train for intercity and international cargo transportation.

Design details

MAZ-5440 (a photo of the tractor will allow you to study its appearance) has a fairly modern cabin. The parameters of its convenience and aerodynamics are very high. The front of the car received a finish in the form of durable plastic, which, in turn, made it possible to significantly reduce the weight of the structure. The presence of huge side mirrors provides an excellent overview of the surrounding spaceon the sides of the truck.

For the comfort of the driver, his seat is equipped with air springs with additional settings. There are also two berths in the cabin. The instrument panel has a beautiful design and an optimal degree of ergonomics. The climate in the cabin acceptable for the driver is maintained by a special system. The tractor door windows are equipped with electric lifts. There is also a tachograph, on-board computer, audio system.

As for the brake system, the MAZ-5440 has a main, auxiliary and spare system. In this case, the front and rear wheels can be braked separately from each other. A parking brake is also required.

Flaws

The described tractor also has negative sides. So, in particular, drivers express complaints about the gearbox, which cannot be used in the “roll over” mode, because in this way it could be easily disabled. The demultiplier is recommended to be operated at a speed of 20 km/h. It is strictly forbidden to include a reverse overdrive. Truck spars and cross members are prone to cracking.
