The Hyosung GT650R motorcycle attracts attention not only with its bright aggressive design, in some respects similar to the Benelli Tornado Tre 900, excellent performance, but also a relatively low price for its category. Motor vehicles from Asia have recently begun to increasingly appear on the world market, but have not yet won the trust of motorcyclists.
About the manufacturer
The Korean company HYOSUNG (S&T Motors) is quite young and appeared only thirty years ago. Since the company did not have its own developments, it had to establish cooperation with other manufacturing companies. After a failed attempt at Moto Guzzi, Hyosung signed with Suzuki. The Koreans added their know-how to the Japanese developments received, and then for the first time motorcycles under the Hyosung brand appeared on the market. However, the Japanese imposed some restrictions, so the company soon began to engage in its own design research, enticing several Japanese engineers.
In 1988, the company became the official supplier of the Olympic Games in Seoul, and in 1994 debuted on the European market with its first cruiser, the Hyosung Cruise 125. In the period up to 2001, several more of its own motorcycles were produced. In 2007 the companywas bought by a large holding S&T Group and received a different official name - S&T Motors.
Inexpensive sportbike
Hyosung GT650R is a 647cc sports bike3. At the moment, this is the largest cubic capacity produced by S&T Motors. The Hyosung GT650R motorcycle is very popular among beginner motorcyclists who want sports to be their first “horse”. The bike can reach decent speeds, but is still pretty leisurely, like a street in the guise of a sport. At the same time, it costs a little: its price in the secondary market starts from 150,000 rubles. Finding spare parts is also not a problem. In Europe, the motorcycle is popular, it is often chosen by those who want not only high speeds, but comfort when traveling long distances, besides, when buying a new motorcycle, the manufacturer gives a two-year warranty.
Originally, it comes only in three colors: red, white and black, but you can buy plastic with a different design solution separately.
Hyosung GT650R Specifications
If the first models of this company were presented with Suzuki engines, then the GT650R is a completely Korean development. The motorcycle has a two-cylinder four-stroke V-engine with a capacity of 79 hp. With. The cooling system is liquid, and the engine is started from an electric starter. The gearbox is six-speed. At first speed, the Hyosung GT650R accelerates to 86 km / h, and up to 134 km / h atsecond. The dry weight of the motorcycle is 215 kg, and the volume of the gas tank is 17 liters. Brakes are a 300mm floating disc with a four-piston caliper at the front and a 230mm disc with a two-piston caliper at the rear. The length and height of the motorcycle are 2090 and 1135 respectively, while the ride height is 830 inches.
The front suspension is an inverted telescopic fork, while the rear suspension is a monoshock swingarm.
Flaws
With all the advantages, it is necessary to point out the misses in the Hyosung GT650R model. Reviews of motorcyclists agree that the brakes of the motorcycle are rather weak. They are identical to the previous model with an engine capacity of 250 cm3, which is half the size, and, it would seem, the brake system could also be improved. In addition, the weight is quite large for a sportbike - almost 230 kg with a filled tank. This weight is on par with a chopper or a straight, but is unusual for sports that are sometimes 50 or even 80 kg less than the GT650R.
Many owners also complain about the poor quality of the rubber supplied in the kit, about the breakdown of the shock absorber and the timing chain tensioner.
The new Hyosung GT650R costs about 350 thousand rubles, in view of this, a dispute flares up among motorcyclists: which is better, a new Korean or a used Japanese? Those who want to use new equipment will choose Hyosung, and those who do not mind sorting out and fixing a used motorcycle will prefer some Suzuki or Honda.
In addition, if the rider is a beginner andtakes a Hyosung GT650R to learn how to drive, then after a couple of seasons the question of selling will arise. New Asian equipment is rapidly depreciating in price, besides, bikers have a suspicious attitude towards both Chinese and Korean motorcycles, so it will not be easy to sell a motorcycle or you will have to lose a lot in price. But the Japanese taken on the secondary market has no such problems - these are proven manufacturers who are always responsible for quality.
