When looking at the appearance of a beaten and scratched car, one immediately gets a negative impression of its owner. A well-maintained car is the calling card of its owner. Therefore, you need to take care of its appearance. In this article, we will look at how to repair the body with your own hands.

Paint selection

If there is only a scratch on the surface of the car, we only need to have the appropriate paint and primer to fix it. However, if in the designthe metal itself was also damaged, we get additional putty (but we'll talk about it a little later) and apply it to the body. Do-it-yourself repair of paintwork using the so-called "pencils to eliminate deformations" is useless. The fact is that with this tool you can only partially hide visible defects, since the thickness of the filling does not always correspond to the depth of the scratch gap. You need to choose paint very carefully. Never pick bottles at random. Even if the color is the same, the shade can be very different. The paint number must fully match the one that the manufacturer applied to the body.

DIY repair: putty, primer and paint

As for the primer, it can be of two types - for paintwork and for metal. The use of one or another type directly depends on the degree of damage. If, after an accident, a dent has also formed on the body, in this case you cannot do without putty. First we need to degrease the surface and sand it with sandpaper. After preparing the putty and apply it to the damaged body. Do-it-yourself repairs do not end there, of course, and while the applied material dries, we quickly level its surface. After the putty dries, the dent will no longer be so noticeable, however, to achieve the desired result, it is necessary to go over it again with sandpaper. Next, you can prime the body. Do-it-yourself repairs should be carried out using the second type of aerosol: even if yourcar of domestic production, the primer must be imported. We apply it in one layer and proceed to painting the body. It is necessary to apply the material in three layers in order to completely mask microcracks. For extra shine, you can varnish the surface.
