When designing the tractor, they tried to create an instance that, with all the advantages described, would also be easy to handle and distinguished by maintainability. That is why the machine has a classic layout with the cab behind the power plant.

At the same time, when designing, the tasks of creating a powerful, unpretentious and all-terrain vehicle capable of working on soils with different bearing capacity were solved. As it has already become clear, the engineers managed to do their job and give the MTZ-921 technical characteristics that only some Western counterparts have.

Engine models

The main power plant installed on the MTZ-921 tractor is the diesel unit D-245.5, certified in accordance with the second stage of Directive 2000/25 / EC, which indicates a low level of toxicity of exhaust gases to the environment. In addition, the motor meets Euro-2 standards.

The D-245.5 engine is a four-stroke four-cylinder with an in-line arrangement of cylinders and a liquid cooling system. High torque is provided by the gas turbine pressurization system. Another feature of the power unit is the vortex combustion chamber made in the piston. Thanks to all of the above elements, the MTZ-921 engine has high technical specifications.

Other power units installed on three modified models differ from the D-245.5 only in power. So, the D-245.5S, which comes with the MTZ-921.2, has a capacity of 95 "horses". Its modification D-245.5S2 is additionally equipped with an intermediate air cooling system. But the D-245.5S3A motor, which, in addition to everything, has an increased torque, is supplied only with MTZ-921.3.

Transmission

The transmission module of the tractor is represented by a manual gearbox with 18 forward and 4 reverse gears. Dry single disc clutchhydrostatic control.

When moving forward, the change in speed from the minimum (1.8 km/h) to the maximum (35 km/h) is carried out by 16 steps of a single-lever gearbox. Thanks to this, it is possible to choose the optimal speed for agricultural operations.

If the MTZ-921 tractor loses traction with the ground, or it is necessary to increase the amount of tractive effort, the front axle is automatically switched on. As a result, there is an increase in traction due to the use of the entire mass of the machine for adhesion to the surface. Traction performance can also be increased manually using a mechanical differential lock.

Interaction with interchangeable equipment

The hydraulic system of the tractor is represented by a separate-aggregate universal hydraulic mechanism that allows you to adjust the force of the impact of the implement on the ground, its height, as well as both of these factors at the same time.

To install various attachments, the machine is equipped with drawbars. This is the front and rear hinged mechanism NU-2 with a maximum load capacity of 1500 and 4000 kg, respectively. In addition, the design of the machine also includes a traction fork TSU-1V, and a coupling device TSU-1.
