The D-245 engine is an inexpensive and high-quality power unit manufactured by the Minsk plant for completing trucks, buses and tractors, which allows for reliable and long-term operation of equipment with appropriate care and maintenance.

Development of engine production

Minsk Motor Plant (MMZ, Republic of Belarus) was founded in 1963. The basis for the creation of a new enterprise was the engine production as part of the tractor plant (MTZ), which carried out the manufacture of engines for tractors of the Belarus brand. The reason for the construction was an increase in the production of agricultural machinery at MTZ, which required an additional number of power units. The formation and development of the MMZ made it possible already in 1964 to provide all Belarus tractors with D-50 diesel engines produced at the new engine plant.

In the future, the development of new power units continued, which made it possible to expand the number of models produced and the volume of production. In parallel with this, the range of machinery and industrial equipment, which were equipped with Minsk motors, increased.

Diesel D-245: application and parameters

One of the most popular diesel power units of Minsk production is the engine under the factory index D-245. D-245 engines are equipped with buses, trucks, heavy dump trucks and tractors. The motor has the following specifications:

2. Option - turbocharged, air-cooled.
3. Volume - 4, 75 l.

Care and maintenance of diesel

To maintain the D-245 engine in working condition during operation, it is necessary to carry out maintenance (TO). At the same time, it is important to know that non-compliance and violation of deadlines, as well as the poor quality of the consumables used, reduce the life of the motor. In addition, the number of breakdowns is increasing, and the cost of repairing the D-245 engine is increasing.

Minsk plant installed the following types of maintenance:

• Every shift (ETO) - mileage up to 350 km.
• TO-1 - 5000 km.
• TO-2 - 20000 km.
• Seasonal (CO).

When performing ETO, the level of working fluids is checked and topped up if necessary.

During TO-1, cleaning and washing of the power unit, tensioning of all drive belts, cleaning of air system elements are carried out. At the second TO-1, the oil and oil filter are changed.

When carrying out TO-2, all first maintenance operations are first performed, then fuel filters are changed, valve clearances are checked and adjusted, the cooling system is flushed, tightenedfasteners, the parameters of the injection pump are configured.

Seasonal maintenance is switching to technological materials appropriate for the upcoming season of operation.

Installation of the D-245 engine on the appropriate equipment, subject to the rules and standards of service, will ensure long-term and long-term operation of vehicles.
