Suzuki Escudo is a typical representative of such a popular class in Japan and Europe as the Cross-Country Vehicle. In other words, this model is an off-road passenger car. And it's hard not to agree that such machines are very relevant in the Russian Federation.
About the start of production
Suzuki Escudo began to be produced in 1988. The company did not wait a few years, and at the same time released the TA01R open-body model. The car was equipped with several gasoline engines and one diesel. The Japanese decided to create as many different versions as possible so that each of them finds its owner. There are models with both automatic and manual transmissions.
Initially, the most popular was a three-door car with a 1.6-liter SOHC inline-four powertrain. This version of the car was produced in three body styles - regular, hardtop and van. But after some time, the Nomade five-door car was released, which became incredibly famous and, of course, bought.
Third generation in brief
In 2005, manufacturers began to release cars that are representatives of the third generation. What could they be proud of? The new Suzuki Escudos were equipped with a modern 4 Mode Full Time 4WD system that had not been tested before. Why is she special? The fact that this system ensures the operation of the transmission in the so-called "reduced mode", which is designed specifically for driving on bad roads (or on obvious off-road). A very useful feature, thanks to which the Suzuki Escudo quickly gained popularity in the Russian Federation.
And the body was reinforced with a built-in frame. So, rigidity was added to it, making it more durable and safer. And the rear suspension, which is multi-link, has gained independence. By the way, this car has an equally popular analogue, which is known as the Suzuki Grand Vitara.
There is one interesting fact. A legend is circulating that supposedly Japanese specialists in 1986 presented the Niva-2121 project manager with an advertising brochure for the future, not yet built Suzuki Escudo. They gave it to Petr Prusov with an inscription reading the following: “To the godfather of this car.”
Grand 2.7 AT
This car is one of the most popular among all Suzuki Escudo. His characterization is quite impressive. So, this is a five-door SUV with a length of 4390 mm and a wheelbase of 2640 mm. This modification of the Suzuki Escudo receives reviews inmostly positive, and all thanks to its technical characteristics. 185 horsepower, DOHC V-6 engine with multiport fuel injection speaks for itself.
The unit is driven by an automatic transmission (5-speed). Disc brakes, ventilated, suspension - multi-link (rear) and depreciation (front). In general, the car is good. And this is just one version of all existing ones! The rest of the models are not worse. The car is assembled soundly, with high quality, and this is its main advantage. That is why many people have chosen it and become happy drivers of the legendary Suzuki car, one of the few Japanese models that can truly boast of high build quality.
