In 1998, Fiat released a new model - the Fiat Multipla, which was presented as a fundamentally new class of cars. Is it fair? What features allowed the developers to make such a bold statement?

Exterior design

The first thing that immediately catches your eye is the design, which gives the car a rather strange look. One gets the feeling that right before the sale, the car was cut off the upper part of the body and hastily welded some other one, it looks so inharmonious. On the other hand, there are no comrades for the taste and color, so there are plenty of fans of such a bold decision too.

But you only feel the benefits of a design that looks wild at first glance when you sit in the salon and feel the unusual spaciousness at shoulder level.

With prolonged use, you will also notice that when it rains, you can open the window a little - water practically does not get inside.

And then comes the understanding that the main thing in this car is passenger comfort and practical use, and luxury is secondary.

By the way, another rather strangea feature of the Fiat Multipla is that none of its windows can be fully opened. This is an obvious blunder on the part of the developers of this model.

Salon Design

And here the designers supported the general concept of non-standard cars: there are three seats in front! Moreover, there are also three of them in the back! So at the same time six (!) people can comfortably fit in the Fiat Multipla, and if necessary, all eight!

Also surprising is the position of the information block - in the center of the front panel, and directly opposite the steering wheel is the glove compartment. At first it seems very strange, and you think that it is simply impossible to get used to this. But after driving a bit, it becomes clear that this location is the most convenient: you don’t have to look “through the steering wheel” at the dashboard, and you don’t even need to reach for the glove compartment - everything is at hand.

Looking into the trunk of the Fiat Multipla, one cannot help but be surprised by its indiscreet size. And if you also fold the rear seats, then it acquires a truly huge volume, which allows you to use it not only for family trips, but also for transporting fairly large and heavy loads.

Features

After such a stormy description of the design of the car, you can imagine that its technical characteristics will amaze you with something. But these are misleading expectations. Under the hood is a fairly average 1.6-liter Bipower engine with a capacity of only one hundred horsepower. Its distinguishing feature is thatit can run on both gasoline and methane. The volume of the gas tank is thirty-eight liters, and the volume of gas cylinders is one hundred and sixty-four liters. Due to its hybrid nature, this engine is one hundred and seventy kilograms heavier than its gasoline counterpart.

In 2002, the Fiat Multipla was improved: the same "welded" body was replaced with a more familiar version. And you can not say that it benefited the car. After all, the model itself has always been so different from other cars that a non-standard appearance has become an integral part of its overall image.

In general, the Fiat Multipla is a fairly comfortable family car, which, in addition, can be used to transport large loads.
