Where are you from?

The Nexia's path was not the easiest. Initially, the German concern Opel can be called the manufacturer of the Daewoo Nexia, since it was they who developed it. Then it was upgraded by Daewoo from South Korea. The "direct ancestor" of this car is the Opel Kadett E, which was produced between 1984 and 1991.

"Nexia" was produced from 1996 to 2016 in a city called Asaka (Uzbekistan). There were two generations of this car, which we will discuss below.

First Generation

The car came to South Korea under the name Daewoo Cielo, but it was not produced directly in this country for long. In 1996, it was transferred for production to subsidiaries in different countries, including Russia and Uzbekistan. Until 1998, the Daewoo Nexia was assembled at the Krasny Aksai plant, which is located in the Rostov region, but in Uzbekistan the assembly continued until 2016. Some car components and body steel are of Russian origin.

Features

"Daewoo-Nexia" is produced in the "sedan" body. From 1996 to 2002, the car was equipped with a G15MF engine (volume 1.5 l and power 55 kW, 75 hp), with a gas distribution mechanism that has two valves per cylinder and one overhead camshaft. In this "Nexia" almost completely copies its predecessor.

Daewoo-Nexia has only two configurations: basic (GL) and extended (GLE), which in dealer terminology is listed as "Lux". Restyling

The manufacturer of "Daewoo-Nexia" made the first restyling of the car produced in Uzbekistan in 2002. The body received many external changes, but, more importantly, a more advanced engine was installed instead of the obsolete G15MF. The power of the new engine is 63 kW (85 hp), which was achieved by the introduction of a second shaft and the addition of two more valves per cylinder (thus there are four). Fuel injection, cooling and ignition systems have also been redesigned. The engine received the index A15MF. In connection with these changes, the manufacturer of Daewoo Nexia simply could not ignore the brakes and running gear, because they also underwent modernization.

From the Nexia plant, after restyling in 2002, they are produced with 14 "wheels. Also, a catalytic converter and regulation of the composition of the mixture according to the signals of the lambda probe were added to the design, so that the Nexia began to meet the requirements of "Euro" in terms of toxicity -2". These cars were produced until 2008.

Second restyling

In 2008, the Daewoo Nexia manufacturers took up the exterior and interior. Both bumpers, optics and interior received an update, and shockproof beams were added in the doors. Because there is a new standard in the worldenvironmental friendliness - "Euro-3", and the engine did not match it, two engines came to replace it: A15SMS (power - 80 hp) from Chevrolet-Lanos, and F16D3 (109 hp) from Chevrolet- Lacetti". A little about the technical part

The engine, taken from the "Chevrolet-Lanos", develops power up to 80 liters. With. It has an electronic control unit and a distributed fuel injection system. Thus, the car can run on almost any gasoline, even AI-80, even AI-95. In 12.5 seconds, this car accelerates to 100 km/h. However, this engine cannot be called economical. Fuel consumption in city mode will be eight to nine liters, and on the highway it "eats" only a liter less.

With the F16D3 engine, the car, of course, is much more dynamic, because it is not 80 hp. with., and all 109. The motor is equipped differently: there are two upper camshafts, and four valves per cylinder, so the Nexia will accelerate faster: in 10 seconds to 185 km / h. Do not forget that an increase in power has a consequence in the form of an increase in fuel consumption. In city mode, the car consumes 9.3 liters, and on the highway - 8.5.

Engines are located transversely, the gearbox is mechanical, five-speed. Transfers are long enough and this is an advantage in some situations,especially in the city, because the driver does not need to constantly switch. Transmission works easily.

It is believed that due to the Euro-3 environmental standard, engines lose traction, but in the case of these two representatives, this is not the case. The shock absorbers installed from the factory are soft, but they do not last long - their life will come up after thirty thousand kilometers. Daewoo Nexia is equipped with a fully independent spring front suspension. In the rear - a torsion beam and a design with a spring. Brakes, as they say, there are not enough stars from the sky, but there are no problems with them. Power steering is not included as standard, so motorists will have to settle for rack and pinion steering, although the manufacturer provides for a self-installation of power steering.

Ravon

In 2015, new budget cars began to appear on the assembly line of the same plant in Uzbekistan, called Ravon Nexia, the direct ancestor of which was the Chevrolet Aveo T250. This car has become a worthy successor to the Daewoo Nexia as an affordable and fairly reliable car.

Instead of a conclusion

It cannot be said that the suspension behaves perfectly on Russian roads. The design is imperfect, the components are inexpensive, poor settings and the budget assembly of the Daewoo Nexia make themselves felt. Of course, this car performs better than Lada, and in terms of comfort, of course, it costs much higher, but in terms of the same indicators it is somewhat inferior to Kalina, Priore and"Grante". And the answer to the question of which of these cars to prefer depends more on the preferences of a particular motorist. Fans of domestic cars, of course, will not look at the Nexia. Another "camp" is of the opinion that any foreign car is more reliable and durable than a domestic car. In any case, the car is a worthy representative of its price category. It is quite inexpensive to maintain, which is excellent, given the good characteristics of the Daewoo Nexia.
