Although the Japanese company Suzuki's Grand Vitara is commonly referred to as a compact crossover, its off-road capabilities far exceed those of most competitors. The multi-mode all-wheel drive transmission of this car has the ability to lock the center differential and engage a lower gear, which is now rare not only on crossovers, but also on cars that are classified as SUVs.

The Grand Vitara began to be produced in 1997 in three basic versions: a five-door, an extended five-door and a shortened three-door. In the domestic Japanese market, such cars are called Suzuki Escudo. In the history of the car, two generations have changed (the first - since 1997, the second - since 2005), and there have also been several restylings, the last of which occurred in the current 2013. Actually, the name-calling of the Grand Vitara crossover began when the lower gear and the center differential lock were removed on the three-door version of the second-generation car.

The appearance of the 2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara compared to its predecessors has changed slightly. The optics of the headlights has changed, which echo the shape of the lower “mouth” of the air intake. In addition to the above properties of the transmission (locking the center differential and the presence of a low gear), the car has an independent five-link suspension at the rear and MacPherson strut at the front. However, the previous off-road shortcomings are still in place: poor geometric cross-country ability due to the long skirt of the front bumper, a striking exhaust system, and a transfer case.

The 2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara inside the cabin pleases with cosmetic updates: the plastic of the dashboard and dashboard has changed for the better, the finishing materials made of artificial and genuine leather have also improved to the touch. The stylish dashboard is pleasing to the eye, and comfortable front seats- back. In the second row of seats, the changes are imperceptible, just as the volume of the luggage compartment remained unchanged.

The new 2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara comes with just two petrol engine options. More precisely, three, but two types per three-door body: 1.6 liters and 2.4 liters; and two views of the five-door body: 2.0 liters and 2.4 liters. The price in Russia fluctuates between the simplest version - 895,000 rubles, and the most "fancy" one - 1,305,000 rubles.
