"Hyundai Accent" is a fairly popular car that does not need a separate introduction. Car owners love Korean vehicles for their simplicity of design, low maintenance costs and a decent margin of safety. The appearance is recognizable and well-designed by the engineers who created the Hyundai Accent. The interior turned out to be simple: cheap plastic often creaks on bumps, sound insulation is also mediocre.

History of Creation

The assembly of the first copies of Accent started in 1994. The Korean automaker was able to create a low-cost car that not only met all the requirements, but was also comfortable, economical, easy to maintain and very reliable.

"Hyundai Accent", the interior of which was assembled from cheap plastic, began to actively gain sales and force competitors out of the market. Low cost and high Korean quality played a role.

With sales growing rapidly around the world, Hyundai Motors Corporation decided in 1999 to refineand significantly improve the Hyundai Accent. The interior was completely revised and received new plastic, the body acquired new forms and began to resemble European cars.

The main differences between the first and second generation are:

• improved handling;
• tightened interior plastic quality;
• redesigned braking system;
• new fuel injection settings that significantly reduced fuel consumption;
• reduce cabin noise.

In 2001, the TagAZ automobile plant began production of the Hyundai Accent car. Salon and exterior design have not changed. However, in technical terms, there were pleasant improvements:

• basic equipment got air conditioning, power steering, protection system with immobilizer, updated multimedia system;
• body received galvanization and additional processing of the bottom with a special compound;
• chassis was modified for Russian roads, ground clearance increased to 169 millimeters;
• Hyundai-Accent cabin filter began to be installed in all configurations.

Adaptation of the car to Russian realities and a reduction in the total cost appealed to potential buyers, now Accent has become even more common on the roads.

Description of the vehicle

The car is made in a classic and seasoned style. The front end consists of a long, sloping bonnet that flows into the headlights. Reflex optics with one lamp are responsible for lighting the road,which gives near and far light. The direction indicator is integrated into the side section of the headlamp. The chrome-framed grille blends in nicely with the exterior, and the Hyundai badge proudly takes center stage. The bumper does not indulge in the presence of navigation lights and complex bends, but the fit of every detail is on top: all the gaps are verified and are in place.

Side sedan turned out balanced and recognizable. Rear-view mirrors are made of black plastic to match the door handles and protective moldings. The high glazing line and the small angle of the windshield are reminiscent of the fact that the car was designed in the 90s. The rear left fender is equipped with an antenna for receiving radio signals. It is impossible to remove it or fold it into the interior space, the antenna is not telescopic and is firmly fixed in its place. The thresholds are not protected by moldings or plastic lining, but the high ground clearance allows you not to worry about them.

The feed does not differ in technological solutions and is made in a classic design. Blocks of lights do not go on the trunk lid. The bumper is not equipped with parking aids or fog lights. The exhaust pipe is hidden behind a massive bumper that sits snugly in place.

Interior

Salon "Hyundai Accent" "TagAZ" did not finalize. The car meets the driver with a comfortable steering wheel with the ability to adjust in height. The dashboard consists of classic arrow indicators with no modern displays. For daily runthe built-in mechanical counter answers, which can be reset by pressing a special key.

The center console consists of air ducts, a multimedia system, knobs for adjusting the blowing speed, position and temperature. A little lower you can find a key to turn on the air conditioner, a cigarette lighter and an ashtray. The Hyundai Accent interior lighting turns on automatically when one of the doors is opened.

The driver's door is equipped with a block with which you can raise and lower the windows, as well as adjust the position of the side rear-view mirrors. The driver's and front passenger's seats are not equipped with a flexible adjustment system. You can only adjust the position of the backrest and move the seat itself. The rear sofa is solidly made, but only children or people of small stature can fit comfortably.

Packages

In Russia, 7 trim levels are available, in which the main difference is the types of engines and transmissions of the Hyundai Accent. Salon has no major external differences, additional equipment is the following options:

• electric mirror adjustment;
• heating mirror element;
• the presence of a central locking system;
• ABS system;
• driver and passenger airbags.

All versions were equipped with 5% tinted glass, air conditioning, power steering, immobilizer. At the time of 2018, Accent 2004-2006 can be bought for 150,000 - 200,000 rubles, depending on the configurationand the general condition of the car.

Specifications

In total, two power plants and two types of transmission were offered to choose from:

1. 1.5-liter 12-valve petrol engine with 90 horsepower;
2. gasoline 1.5-liter unit with 16 valves, which gave out 102 "horses".

Transmission was offered 5-speed manual or classic 4-speed torque converter "automatic".

Additional Features:

• length - 4,236 millimeters;
• width - 1,671 millimeters;
• height - 1,395 millimeters;
• wheelbase - 2,400 millimeters;
• curb weight - 970 kilograms;
• fuel tank - 45 liters.

Maximum speed is limited to 181 km/h, combined fuel consumption will not exceed 7 liters.

Tuning

Car owners of "Hyundai-Accent" practically did not change their cars. The target audience, according to sales, consisted of people aged 40 to 70.

The maximum change could only affect the Hyundai Accent multimedia system. Interior tuning in the photo is almost impossible to find.

Reviews from car owners

Judging by the reviews, Korean engineers did a great job and were able to develop a reliable and unpretentious car that is inexpensive and suitable for the whole family. The engine, transmission and suspension do not raise questions even with a run of 100,000 kilometers. Maintenance is inexpensive andrequired no more than once a year.

In the secondary market, well-maintained Hyundai Accent cars are very common. Photos of the interior confirm good quality: the center console, steering wheel and door trim stand up to long runs and look great even after a while.
