Real American cars stood out from the mass of vehicles with unusually powerful power units. Many are familiar, albeit indirectly, with the famous Dodge Viper. The characteristics of this almost 700 strong monster are amazing. His appearance fascinates and attracts with an unusually long muzzle and a massive spoiler. Let's get to know the model closer.

Company history

This American model is now over 25 years old. The first Vipers appeared in 1992. Three years earlier, the company's developers came up with the idea to create an incredibly daring sports car. Of course, the goal was to make a true "American". At that time, the famous "Chargers" of 1967 were very popular, and it all came down to the production of such machines. Huge power combined with insane engine sizes is the hallmark of muscle cars, as they were called.

Initially, it was proposed to equip the Dodge Viper with an engine from a pickup truck, but later this idea had to be abandoned due to the high mass of the installation. The engineers of the Lamborghini company, which in those years was a Chrysler subsidiary, came to the aid of the American concern. The result of this cooperation was the V10 power unit made of aluminum. The motor was slightly modified by the company's specialists, and an eight-liter monster with 400 horsepower was obtained. At the same time, there was no talk of any stabilization, real unbridled power.

The Dodge Viper was subsequently given to a special development department - SRT (Street Racing Technology). In 2003, a version with an 8.3 liter engine with a capacity of 510 "horses" was released.

Further, the history of the sports car is similar to the life of the "Phoenix". In 2005, representatives of the company announced that they intended to stop the production of cars. A year later, these words were embodied in actions, the company stopped the production of the Dodge Viper car.

Resonance in society greatly influenced the opinion of the group's management, and in 2008 the updated SRT 10 monster rolled off the assembly line. The technical equipment has not undergone major changes. Using new equipment and electronic control systems, the car produced a maximum of 600 horsepower with a torque of 760 Nm.

In 2012, the developers decided to release a restyled version of the Viper, with an unforgettable appearance. As the first updated body, a closed version was offered, which was contrary to the tradition of the company. To achieve better dynamic performance, the company began the pursuit of weight reduction. As a result, we received many carbon fiber body parts, alloy wheels and an updated suspension.

Viper interior

There are very few photos of the interior of the updated sports car, and there is no confirmation of their authenticity. But we can assume that the developers, in order to reduce the weight of the car, carefully worked out the interior. They may have removed the radio amplifier, speakers, and carpeting from standard equipment.

The material of the front panel is likely to be carbon fiber. This will give a sportier look to the interior and will significantly reduce the overall weight of the car. Seats traditional for sports cars - buckets with seat belts - will be wrapped in Alcantara, which will add comfort to the driver. It was shown at the international auto show. But at the same time, the manufacturer indicated that the buyer will be able to choose one of 16 trim styles.

Appearance

The streamlined body is the main strong point of the car. The domed roof with double bulges is made for a more comfortable landing of pilots in the car. The muzzle extended forward, allows to provide the best indicators of aerodynamics. "Viper" is equipped with a supporting frame made of high strength steel. The doors are made of aluminum, which also contributes to weight reduction.

The chief designer of the company, Scott Krueger, contributed to the transformation of the appearance. Heproposed to modify the air intakes and side pipes of the exhaust system. There is a large wing on the trunk lid, and a splitter is installed in front.

The automaker plans to release a limited edition Dodge Viper model. In our country, it will not be possible to get it in the public domain. Accordingly, it will be possible to purchase only by special order from the United States of America. There are three modifications of the Viper to choose from: SRT standard, GT version and GTS.

The possibility of creating an individual design and choosing a body color has not gone anywhere. The manufacturer claims that it will offer the future owner more than 8,000 primary colors and 24 stylish stripes on the hood and roof.

The cost of the new Dodge Viper lineup in 2017 will start at 5,900,000 rubles. 5 special variants of the model will be offered, which will be the last released "Vipers" in the history of the Chrysler concern:
