But stimuli are also of an internal nature. This refers to the vibration created when driving over bumps. It negatively affects all units and assemblies, which leads to rapid wear of mechanisms.

Consider a domestic car brand. Replacing the VAZ engine mounts will not cause any particular difficulties, since all models of devices for such cars are unified. Since the manufacturer installs the same pillows on all cars, for motorists, if necessary, it does not become a problem to get them. In principle, for the domestic automotive industry, the possibility of interchangeability of parts is a characteristic feature. Thanks to this, there is no shortage of spare parts on the market.

The engine mount is made from special rubber or rubber. The fastening is made on a metal basis. So the parts remain durable and reliable longer. Rubber will show itself perfectly both in frosty time and in heat. Therefore, the vagaries of the weather are not terrible for her. Atmospheric precipitation also does not frighten her at all.

Working principle

It's easy to guess how the part functions. Rubber dampens the main part of the emerging vibrations due to its elastic qualities. Therefore, the elements are not overloaded. Naturally, this does not mean at all that as soon as the engine mounts are replaced, it will be possible to cut through all the bumps and pits at high speed without consequences. These parts, like any other, wear out over time. And when operating in difficult conditions, their tensile strength may one day not withstand. Of course, their purpose is to protect against breakdowns. However, at the same time, the driver must carefully and carefully treat his car, otherwise a new replacement will soon have to be made.

Features for replacement

To understand if the engine mounts need to be replaced, listen to your car while driving. Does this cause extraneous knocking in the space under the hood? This can be heard especially clearly when driving on rough roads.

When a knock occurs, a diagnosis should be made as soon as possible. For this, as a rule,required:

• install the car on special supports;
• raise the unit so that it does not come into contact with the pillows (use a jack for this);
• inspect cushions for cracks or play between the rubber and metal backing;
• feeling the pillows - they should not be overly hard;
• check that all fasteners are properly tightened and that the rubber is well lubricated.

The procedure will take no more than an hour. But it will allow you to find out if there are problems in this part or not.

Replacing engine mounts

If a malfunction is detected, then you can get to work. Replacing the pillows of the VAZ engine takes place in several steps. In total, the motor is supported by four such parts - one each from all sides. If replacement is necessary, then all the pillows are changed at once, because this is the only way to ensure the optimal mode of future work. After all, old and new elements may differ in their characteristics. Economically, replacing the engine mounts all together will also be more profitable than changing them one by one as the problem occurs.

So, the procedure consists of the following sequential actions:

• The vehicle is kept stationary on level ground.
• The belt drive is removed from the generator, the bolts securing it to the body are unscrewed.
• The crankcase is lifted.
• Unscrew the mounts with keys and remove the rightpillow.
• Assembly is done in reverse order.
• After that, the jack is transferred to the gearbox and raised.
• The back cushion is removed and a new one is put in its place. Do not forget about the sequence of actions.
• Next, remove the motor mudguard. Through it you can get to the front cushion and remove it.
• At the end everything is put back in place.

Conclusion

The replacement procedure is not difficult. This can be easily implemented on your own. It is highly recommended not to rush. Then all elements will be installed correctly. The keys that will be needed for work: on 13, 15 and 17.
