Indeed, among the main reasons why the engine stalls on the road or refuses to start, only two are the lack of fuel or the inability to ignite the mixture. Often, during the first diagnosis, it turns out that there is gasoline in the tank, and the fuel mixture is supplied tocylinders due to vacuum. And therefore, the blame for everything is that the spark on the scooter disappeared. To verify this, you just need to unscrew the candle from its regular hole in the block head. Cracks in the candle cap

This reason can also be attributed to simple ones. If the spark on the scooter has disappeared, then the cap should be dismantled, and then its resistance level should be checked. After disconnecting the cap from the wire, take measurements. The probe of the multimeter is inserted into the hole for the candle. The other is attached to the pin to which the wires fit. If the cap is good, the multimeter will show about 5 kOhm. On most modern scooters, the high-voltage wires, spark plug cap and ignition coil are made one-piece.

All these parts are filled with rubber or compound. And so you can testcap, wire and ignition coil in the complex. One of the probes of the device is inserted into the candle hole on the cap. The second is connected to the ignition coil. This is how the resistance on the primary and secondary windings and the high-voltage wire itself are revealed. The primary reading should be between 0.1 ohms and 0.4 ohms.

Resistance secondary - from 6.35 ohms to 9.7 ohms on most scooters. Sometimes the high-voltage wire becomes unusable. To replace it, you need a cable with a metal core. A carbon-filled automotive element will not work for this procedure.

Open circuits

This happens very often, especially on scooters made in China. Breaks in the wires in the ignition system are possible here.

Also, the reason may be oxidized contacts and terminals. Do-it-yourself scooter repair, in this case, consists in checking the integrity of all wires in the ignition system. Also pay attention to the terminals. If the contacts are oxidized or loose, then they should be cleaned and tightened. It will not be superfluous to check the wire that comes from the switch. Make sure the connection is secure and the terminal is clean.

Failure of ignition system components

This is not a common reason. But if the spark on the scooter has disappeared and there are no visible reasons, then it is necessary to test the switch, coil, generator winding. You can check all these devices with the same multimeter. To make sure that the winding and the pulse sensor are working, you need to connect one tester probe to the wire from the sensor, and the second to the engine crankcase.

A normally working impulse sensor has a resistance of about 500 ohms. The resistance of the generator winding is two to three times less. If the multimeter shows infinity, then one of the components is out of order. It should be replaced with a new one. If the value is less than 150-200 ohms, then the problem is in the supply coil, and therefore the spark has disappeared on the scooter. What to do in this situation? Buy a new generator. Such a device is subject to repair, but in the absence of time it is better to simply replace it. Fortunately, the cost of the generator is low.

Switch

Even a beginner will find his location. This is a plastic box with a terminal block. It comes with colored wires. The switch is necessary to control the operation of the ignition system. Both the switch and the ignition coil are made non-separable. If the element is out of order, then the problems can only be solved by replacement. The price of these parts is low - up to 500 rubles. Some workshops have special devices that allow you to test the switch. However, in order not to look for the appropriate services for a long time, the easiest way is to purchase a new switch. In the process of searching for the cause of the failure of the switch, you do not need to listen to "specialists" who claim that the breakdown happened due to driving without a battery. This is an incorrect opinion. The fact is that in modern scooters, the power supply system, as well as the ignition system, do not depend on each other.

Checkingchain to ignition switch

To do this, the tester probe is connected to the wire going from the switch block to the ignition lock.

The key in the lock is turned to the "off" position. The tester should show 0 in this position, and infinity when the lock is on.

Candle gap

Spark plug gap is an important factor for proper engine operation. This parameter plays an important role in the process of spark formation, ignition of the fuel mixture, efficient operation of the scooter in the entire speed range. The gap must be indicated in the documentation for a particular scooter - this parameter may vary among manufacturers. Generally speaking, for most modern four-stroke Chinese and Japanese mopeds, the gap on the spark plugs is from 0.5 to 0.8 millimeters. This setting must be monitored. For this reason, the spark may disappear. She's leaving due to too much clearance.

Fuse box

Many scooter models are equipped with short circuit protection systems. If there is no spark, you need to find the fuse box and check all the elements in it. Fuses blow frequently and need to be replaced. Then the equipment will be back in service.
