Chevrolet has extensive experience in the SUV industry. The history of the company is very rich, as is the pedigree of one of its most famous cars - the Chevrolet Blazer. This large and unpretentious SUV dates back to 1969, when the Chevrolet Blazer K series was first introduced to the American market. The new model was such a success that by 1982 the company was producing two different versions of this truck. The first variant, called the Blazer S10, was based on the Chevrolet S10 pickup truck. This modification for a long time was produced only in a three-door version and was equipped with engines ranging from 2.5 to 4.3 liters. The second five-door variant was called the Blazer C/K. This car was the father of the idea of the legendary Chevrolet Tahoe.
1991 brought a lot of new things. Model "Chevrolet Blazer S10" has undergone restyling. A five-door modification was put into production, which from now on was equipped with only a 4.3-liter engine. Depending on the modification, this unit could produce from160 to 200 horsepower. The following years did not bring any drastic changes: the company's marketing department only dabbled with names. In 1993, the Blazer S10 began to be called the Blazer S, and in 1994 the letter designation was completely removed.
In 1991, the Blazer S10 range was seriously updated. A 5-door model appeared in the Chevrolet Blazer family. At the same time, models began to be equipped with 4.3-liter engines, which could be 160 or 200 horsepower. In 1993, the name of the SUV was also updated, from that moment it was called Blazer S. And in 1994 the name was further reduced, the letter S disappeared, now the new models of this series were simply called Blazer. So the world saw the "Chevrolet Blazer" with 3 and 5-door bodies and with a 4.3-liter engine, which hid a power of 193 hp
In 1995, the Chevrolet Blazer appeared, which was intended for South America. This car had a slightly modified appearance and other power units: gasoline engines with a volume of 2.2 and 4.3 liters and a power of 113 and 179 horsepower, respectively. This model is remarkable in that its assembly began in 1996 in the city of Yelabuga, Tatarstan. That is why this model is well known in Russia, they even came up with the nickname "Elabuzer". True, this project ended very ingloriously, since the 1998 crisis brought down all sales, and the competitors of this brand started a rumor to the masses that, they say, "Elabuzer" is equipped with a bad engine. Ownersthis car still has to deal with the consequences of that marketing stunt: it is difficult to sell a car with such a history. One way or another, but thanks to these two factors, the car was bought poorly, even despite its very attractive price, so production had to be closed in 1999.
In 2001, the new Chevrolet Blazer debuted in the United States of America. True, little was left of the old model, even the name was changed: now the model was called the Trial Blazer. The car was equipped with a new type of aluminum six-cylinder engine, this monster can produce 273 horsepower with a volume of 4.2 liters. You can also choose the eight-cylinder version, then the power will be already 294 horsepower.
The traditional model continues to be produced to this day, although it now sits slightly below Trial in the hierarchy of prestige, which combines the outstanding performance of the Chevrolet Blazer with new approaches to automotive construction.
