This autumn, Volkswagen announced the start of sales of the updated Volkswagen Beetle. "Beetle", as it is called in Europe, can rightly be considered an old man in his company. The car left the conveyors from 1998 to 2003, while practically not changing the platform. Over the entire history of its existence, more than 21 million "Beetles" of various modifications and versions have been produced. There is, perhaps, not a single corner in the world where he would not meet. He was called both "frog", and "turtle", and "insect". It's just that "Beetle" was translated differently into different languages of the world.

What did the Germans decide to surprise by offering the Russians the third generation Volkswagen Beetle, the photo of which you see in this article? First, the compact hatchback lost its "New" prefix. In-secondly, the updated Volkswagen Beetle can no longer be called cheap. And now he will hardly remain a family. And thirdly, the car has noticeably changed both appearance and technical equipment.

As far as looks, the Beetle has always been a beautiful car. Now the hatchback has acquired a more brutal exterior. Unlike the second generation, the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle has become more sporty and dynamic, but has lost its rounded and symmetrical shapes. He got a new hood, LED headlights, while retaining family features. If earlier the Bug was more of a women's car than a man's, now the new design has brought it closer to the unisex category.

Volkswagen Beetle Specifications

The new hatchback can safely be called rich. But not in terms of cost, but in technical equipment. "Bug" became the owner of a fairly wide model line. In this regard, the creators have not stinted. Volkswagen Beetle, the price of which in Russia starts from 719 thousand rubles, has three petrol units and two diesel engines in its arsenal. The youngest of the gasoline series is a 105-horsepower TSI engine with a volume of 1.2 liters and a scanty, by modern standards, fuel consumption of 5.9 liters.

The second in the line is a 1.4-liter unit with a potential of 140 "horses". His appetite is also quite moderate - 6.6 liters. The powerful two-liter engine closes the gasoline range, curbing two hundred horses.

Diesel versionsrepresented by 1.6 and 2-liter diesel engines with a return of 105 and 140 hp. respectively. To such a rich motor arsenal, an equally extensive selection of transmissions is offered. The hatchback is equipped with a choice of a manual five- or six-speed gearbox and a six-speed DSG robot.

According to German marketers, the updated "Volkswagen Beetle" will be an ideal car for everyday commuting and long-distance travel. The main task of the developers was to improve the legendary hatchback in terms of increasing reliability, practicality and comfort. Looking at the elegant little miracle, it is safe to say that the engineers and designers coped with the set goal perfectly.
