Mercedes Gelandewagen is perhaps the most popular SUV in the world today. The first generation (W460) was produced in two versions. It was a standard (2400 mm) and extended (2850 mm) wheelbase. If we talk about bodies, there were three of them - 2- and 4-door station wagons and a convertible.
Mercedes Gelandewagen, whose photos show us an impressive SUV, was equipped with six different engines. Among them - three diesel and the same number of gasoline. The first included 2.4-, 2.5-. and 3-liter units, working either in tandem with a 5-, 4-speed “mechanics”, or with a 4-speed automatic. Gasoline engines were smaller - by 2, 2.3 and 2.8 liters. This car was so good that the model was often ordered for the armed forces of various countries. Sometimes Mercedes Gelandewagen even served as special equipment.
Exterior
What is the characteristic of Mercedes Gelandewagen in terms of its exterior and interior? Well, the body design is called “cubic”. It may seem strange to some, but it actually looks solid. The appearance of the car is successfully complemented by LED running lights and turn signal repeaters, which the developers decided to mount in the side mirrors.
Also, one cannot fail to note the double grille with a double “blade” that divides it into two halves horizontally, and also a brand new bumper with large square-shaped side niches. The round headlights also stand out strongly.
But there are much more rounded elements in the interior. And a 4-spoke steering wheel, and instrument wells, and controls for the climate system. By the way, this car, despite its external formidability, is very convenient and comfortable from the inside. Wide backs andmoderately soft seats allow you to settle down as you like.
Modern versions
Over the years, the Mercedes Gelandewagen has gotten better and better. And what do we end up with today? A powerful car that is equipped with various engines (the weakest one is 210 hp, a three-liter diesel). The most powerful in its characteristics is a six-liter gasoline unit that produces 612 “horses” (AMG version). There is also a 5.5-liter version with 388 hp. (normal) and 544 hp. the same volume (AMG). The maximum that the G500 can squeeze out of itself is 210 kilometers per hour. Up to a hundred, this car accelerates in a little more than six seconds. As for consumption - the engine consumes 16 liters per 100 kilometers. Such a car (new) costs about seven million rubles. This is a car for we althy people who really appreciate true off-road vehicles with good technical characteristics.
