The word JAWA (Java) is derived from the name of the first owner of the former arms factory, Frantisek Janicek, and the German company Wanderer, from which he purchased equipment and a license for the production of motorcycles back in 1929. At the same time, the first motorcycle "Java-500 OHV" was released.

The name "Java-350" is not the name of any one particular model, but the name of a whole family of motorcycles equipped with an engine with a displacement of 350 cm3.

The first motorcycle "Java-350 CV" appeared in 1934. It had an engine with a lower valve arrangement. Having a good power for those times, 12 liters. with., he could reach a speed of 100 km / h with a fuel consumption of 3.5 liters per 100 km.

A year later, Java began to install more powerful engines (15 hp) with overhead valves. This model, called Java-350 OHV, was produced until 1948 (except for the war years).

After the war, Java motorcycles began to be equipped with two-cylinder two-stroke engines of the newgenerations, work on which was carried out during the war years by engineers from the German company DKW. Produced from 1948 to 1955. The Java-350 Ogar Type 12 motorcycle (later called the Perak Type 12) enjoyed well-deserved customer recognition amid the post-war rise in demand for two-wheeled vehicles.

In 1953, another motorcycle of the 350th Java family appeared - type 354, in which for the first time they began to use a combined gear shift pedal with a kickstarter handle. In addition, this motorcycle received a new chassis and engine. In 1962, the 354th type underwent a significant modernization.

In 1965, the next modernization of the Java motorcycle was made, as a result of which a new Java-350 family appeared - type 360. The new model was released in 1969. She became "Java-350 Californian IV" - type 362. The next modification occurred a year later. Then the model of the three hundred and fiftieth "Java" - 633/1 Bizon was released, in which a new frame was installed, made according to the spinal type, as well as separate engine lubrication. However, for some reason, the new design of the Bizon did not please the buyers, and therefore in 1973 the plant began producing the Java-350 motorcycle - type 634, on which a new 19 hp engine. In 1984, a new model of the 350th Java, type 638, rolled off the assembly line, on which a 23 hp power plant was mounted. With. and new 12 V electrical equipment (on all previous models, the voltage value was 6AT). The 638th model was repeatedly modified, and then subsequent families of the motorcycle were released on its basis - type 639 and type 640, the last of which is still in production.

Tuning "Java-350" has been changed both in the interior of the motorcycle and in its filling (front disc brakes, electric starter, separate lubrication system), which saves domestic "Kulibins" from the need to make any significant improvements in an already reliable machine.

In 2009, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the plant, the model of the 350th Java - "Lux" was produced. The changes affected mainly the appearance: it was decided to return to the classic style - a round headlight, an abundance of chrome parts, etc. In addition, changes were made to the brake system and suspension system.

Java in the USSR

In the USSR, the products of associates in the socialist camp began to be supplied from 1955. These were motorcycles with a volume of both 250 and 350 cm3. The Java-350 model, whose characteristics were more suitable for our conditions, became the most popular among motorists of the former sixth part of the land. These motorcycles were equipped with a well-established 350cc engine3, spoked wheels, a small fairing with a rectangular headlight, front disc brakes.
