Renault Logan is one of the most popular cars on the Russian market. The relatively recent new generation of the model, which received a bright and dynamic design and improved technical characteristics, only fueled the interest of motorists and increased the demand for the car.

Interior and exterior

In the design of Renault Logan with each modification produced, minimal changes were made, and only the 2014 version began to more or less correspond to fashion trends in the automotive industry. The restyling of the model affected the dimensions of the body, the false radiator grille, the front bumper and the head optics. Renault Logan has changed slightly in size, but its appearance has changed significantly thanks to massive bumpers, larger air intakes and original fog lights.

Under the pressure of consumer demand, changes were made to the interior, but they were carried out very slowly due to budgetary considerations. "Renault Logan" is regularly subjected to restyling and changes in technical specifications. The increase in ground clearance was provoked by adaptation to poor road conditions: on versions of the 2014 model year, it was 155 millimeters.

The range of power units was reduced from five options to two: Renault Logan was equipped with two gasoline engines with a capacity of 82 and 102 horsepower and a working volume of 1.6 liters.

In the top trim levels of the car, the security system has been significantly improved, represented by side and frontal airbags, the ESP function, and rear parking sensors. The body structure is equipped with a programmable deformation zone.

Dimensions and weight

The overall performance characteristics of Renault Logan have changed: body length was 4346 mm, height - 1517 mm, width - 1733 mm, wheelbase - 2634 mm. Ground clearance remained unchanged - 155 millimeters.

The volume of the luggage compartment has been preserved - 510 liters. The upgraded version of Renault Logan began to weigh more than the first generation model: the curb weight was 1106 kilograms, the full weight was 1545 kilograms, which had a negative impact oncapacity.

Engine range

For Russian motorists, Renault Logan is offered with two gasoline engines: eight- and sixteen-valve power units of the same volume of 1.6 liters and a capacity of 82 and 102 horsepower, respectively.

Fans of the French car industry are familiar with the sixteen-valve 1.6-liter engine: it was installed on many Renault models. For the latest generation of the car, the engine has been upgraded according to Euro-5 standards. The 1.6 Renault Logan engine with 16 valves has not changed in terms of performance characteristics: power is 102 horsepower, torque is 145 Nm.

The second version of the power unit is the eight-valve K7M engine. Renault Logan, equipped with such an engine, costs 20 thousand rubles cheaper. The 1.6 Renault Logan 8-valve TTX engine also remained unchanged: power remained at around 82 horsepower, torque is 134 Nm at 2800 rpm.

Dynamics

Dynamic performance characteristics of "Renault Logan" depend on the type of engine installed. The torque of the sixteen-valve engine with a capacity of 102 horsepower is 145 Nm. Up to 100 km/h the car accelerates in 10.5 seconds, the maximum developed speed is 180 km/h.

Dynamic performance of the eight-valve engine is worse: the maximum speed is 172 km/h, the acceleration time is 11.9 seconds.

Transmission

Paired withThe offered engines come with a five-speed manual gearbox. French automaker Renault is expected to soon equip Logan with an automatic transmission with more gears than a manual.

Car engines prefer high revs, but the first gears of the five-speed transmission are too short. The main pair of manual transmissions has been changed to 4.5:1. TTX "Renault Logan" provide confident movement in city traffic, but the driver often has to use the gear lever.

Steering and suspension

The Renault Logan steering system has remained unchanged and is represented by a steering rack equipped with hydraulic booster as an additional option. The turning circle of the car is 10 meters. TTX "Renault Logan" in terms of steering remained unchanged.

Front mounted classic McPherson suspension with coil springs and hydraulic shock absorbers. Both axles of the car are equipped with anti-roll bars.

The rear suspension design is much simpler and is represented by a semi-independent spring beam with hydraulic shock absorbers.

The Renault Logan 1.6 suspension has improved in terms of performance characteristics: the engineers used increased stiffness springs in the design, which affected the sharpness of the car's response to a change in the position of the steering wheel, which allows you to more accurately enter turns at high speed. The platform on which the Renault Logan was created remained unchanged, retaining body roll during maneuvers.

Roughnesses of the track are passed by the new version of the car more rigidly, the transmission of vibrations to the body is more precise. Despite this, Logan's suspension has good energy efficiency, making it suitable for driving on dirt roads and off-road.

Brake system and wheels

Renault Logan comes with R15 rims and 185/65 tires. The basic modification of the car includes stamped metal wheels, top versions are equipped with alloy wheels.

The brake system is represented by front disc mechanisms and rear drum mechanisms and is notable for good efficiency and reliability.

The fuel consumption declared in the performance characteristics of Renault Logan 1.4 with an eight-valve engine is 9.8 liters in the city, in combined mode - 7.2 liters and when driving on the highway - 5.8 liters.

The sixteen-valve power unit, despite the best technical characteristics, is more economical: a car consumes 9.4 liters per 100 kilometers in the urban cycle, 7.1 liters in mixed mode, and the same 5.8 liters on the highway.

Among the advantages of Renault Logan, motorists note a high ground clearance that allows you to overcome bumps in the road, a spacious luggage compartment and a spacious interior, and a reliable suspension. The car has practically no drawbacks, with the exception of poor soundproofing of the cabin and poor quality paintwork.
