Every construction company or agricultural enterprise has at its disposal at least one dump truck or grain carrier. In Russia, most of these vehicles are produced at the KamAZ plant (Naberezhnye Chelny) and they are called models 55103 and 5511. Although these two truck models do not have a very high level of comfort, their low price and unpretentious maintenance make them pay attention. Until the 2000s, the situation with the external appearance of trucks remained practically unchanged - all the same round headlights, a low cab and a powerful steel bumper. The design of the car resembled the appearance of the 5320 model, on the basis of which, by the way, the KamAZ-“farmer” was built. After 5 years, the company made minor changes to the exterior of the models -now a lot of plastic has appeared on the cab, and the headlights have become square. And only by the 35th anniversary of the model, the Kama plant decided to make fundamental changes to the design of the truck. Since 2008, the new KamAZ-farmer has been adapted to European requirements and has become more comfortable inside and attractive outside. The lines of the cabin have changed and the bumper has slightly changed its design.
Differences between models
Distinguishing model 55103 from 5511 is very simple: the first has special mesh-type sides (they are also called extensions), which allow you to transport agricultural products in a larger volume. Model 5511 had a protective canopy over the cab, which, in the event of tipping over of materials during loading, protected the driver from sudden danger. It is also worth noting that KamAZ-"farmer" had several types of unloading - two- and three-way.
The car is equipped with one diesel engine for eight cylinders. Its power is 240 horsepower, and the working volume is 10.8 liters. Back in the 70s of the last century, KamAZ-“farmer” was equipped with a gearbox that was unique at that time - with dividers. It is worth noting that the 10-mortar is still relevant on KamAZ trucks, since the synchronizer allows the engine to distribute optimal power to the wheels. As for the wheel formula, it has remained unchanged since the days of the USSR - 6x4. The load capacity of the machine is 11,000 kilograms.
Dimensions and volume of the cargo compartment
The truck is 7.57 meters long, exactly 2.5 meters wide and 2.9 meters high. The use of a special cabover cab layout allowed engineers to achieve not only good visibility from the driver's side, but also increased cargo space, which is about fifteen cubic meters.
KAMAZ-“farmer” – price
At the moment, the cost of a new truck in Russia is about 1 million 820 thousand rubles. The price of trucks with a restyled cab and a new trailer (that is, a road train) is about 3 million rubles. If we compare the cost of the car with foreign competitors, then KamAZ definitely wins in price, and several times more.
