Chevrolet Express was first introduced to the US market in 1996. It was then that he replaced his old predecessor, which had been mass-produced since 1971. The design of the new minivan was radically redesigned - externally and internally, everything has changed beyond recognition. Chevrolet Express has its own characteristics. In particular, this is a strong inflexible welded frame structure, permanent all-wheel drive, as well as new passive and active safety features. Thanks to these technical improvements, Chevrolet Express is currently successfully conquering not only the domestic American, but also the global (including Russian) car market. Design
The appearance of the car is made purely in the American style - chrome body elements, strict optics, large dimensions and a massive front bumper.
Front design can be called corporate- there are clearly similar features with other Chevrolet brands, in particular, the optics are “licked” from the Suburban SUV. Strict headlights and wide turn signals are separated by a huge chrome strip, smoothly turning into an element of the radiator grille. The emblem of the company is visible from afar - you can't confuse the Chevrolet Express with any other van or minivan. By the way, unlike European counterparts, in the Chevrolet Express, the distance from the bumper to the windshield is quite significant - this not only makes it massive, but also makes it stronger and safer in frontal impacts.
Interior
Despite the fact that this car is described as a full-size cargo-passenger van, in terms of comfort it does not resemble any truck at all. On the contrary, according to the owners, it is comfortable inside the car, as in any prestigious Mercedes. Moreover, passengers can move freely inside - fortunately, this allows a high ceiling and a wide body. Surprisingly, there is a rubberized vinyl floor covering inside - you certainly will not find this in European cars! Finishing materials and upholstery are very high quality, and they themselves are very pleasant to the touch. There is leather in the "base", which pleasantly surprises car buyers.
There are both air conditioning and power windows. There are simply no irregularities or curvature in the interior details - the build quality is on top! Depending on the modification, the buyer can purchase eight,twelve- and fifteen-seater minivan. The ergonomics of the driver and passenger seats deserve the highest praise.
In the cabin there is a TV, as well as a mini-bar with a built-in refrigerator. Lots of roomy niches and shelves everywhere. Several rows of passenger seats are equipped with their own electric drive. Another interesting thing is the ability of the third row to fully unfold. Thus, from several seats you can get a very comfortable bed.
Chevrolet Express Specifications
Chevrolet Express is presented on the Russian market in five modifications, including both petrol and diesel power units. The youngest in the gasoline line is a 4.3-liter unit with a capacity of 195 horsepower. "Hundred" he gains in just 12.0 seconds. True, his fuel consumption is not the most economical - 16 liters per 100 kilometers in mixed mode. I was a little pleased with the “appetite” of the diesel engine, but more on that later.
Another representative of the gasoline line is a 4.8-liter unit with a capacity of 290 "horses". Oddly enough, but, according to passport data, its acceleration to “hundreds” is the same with the younger 4.3-liter engine (12 seconds). At the same time, its average fuel consumption is 19 liters per 100 kilometers.
More powerful is the 5.3-litre petrol unit. Its 310 horsepower make the acceleration dynamics of the Chevrolet Express simply incredible - up to 100 kilometers per hour the car accelerates in just over 11 seconds! Fuel consumption, of course, is not the besteconomical - 18 liters per "hundred".
The top of the modification is a six-liter gasoline engine, the fuel consumption of which ranges from 19 to 20 liters per 100 km.
Chevrolet Express diesel
As for the diesel version, the only unit here is a 6.6-liter engine with 260 horsepower.
In terms of acceleration dynamics, it is the weakest (a spurt to “hundreds” is estimated at 13 seconds), but in terms of fuel consumption (14 liters per 100 kilometers) it is the undisputed leader among all the above settings.
Cost
On the Russian market, Chevrolet Express Explorer Limited SE, depending on the configuration, can be purchased at a price of 120 to 137 thousand rubles. At the same time, the dealer provides a guarantee for each minivan for two years or 100,000 kilometers. Such a high cost makes this car affordable only for motorists with high incomes - for ordinary Russians, the Chevrolet Express remains unaffordable. Although in the secondary market you can find the same van for a very reasonable price.
