The Fiat 127, the photo of which is presented below, has been mass-produced for twelve years. It was built on the basis of the obsolete 850th modification from this manufacturing company. The novelty was a small car, which was produced in several body styles. Good technical performance and capacity of the car at one time made it one of the most sought after and popular in Europe.
First Generation
The debut copy of the model rolled off the assembly line in 1971. The first generation Fiat 127 was equipped with a four-cylinder gasoline engine, the volume of which was 0.9 liters. The car was equipped with a front-wheel drive system. The main feature of the novelty was the unique design of the rear suspension, consisting of leaf-type springs. According to the reviews of the first owners of the car, its most important feature could be called a large capacity. This is not surprising, since 80 percent of the Fiat 127's space was intended to accommodate passengers and luggage. Largely due to this, in 1972 the model was awarded the prize as the best European car. As a result, over the next fewFor years, it was considered one of the most popular cars on the Western European market. The model was produced in two body styles - with two or three doors.
Second Generation
In 1977, the second generation of the Fiat 127 was introduced to the general public. The technical characteristics of the updated car were slightly changed. In particular, the choice of buyers was already offered two options for the power plant. In both cases, the engine had a volume of one liter. At the same time, depending on the configuration, its power could be 49 or 69 horsepower. Disc type brakes were installed in front, and drum type brakes in the back. The appearance of the car has also changed somewhat. The main innovation was the emergence of a new body variant with five doors. In all other respects, the design of the novelty has not changed much, with the exception of minor elements.
Third generation
In the early eighties of the last century, the third generation of the model saw the light. The developers have slightly transformed and refreshed the design of the car. In particular, the rear and front parts of the Fiat 127 were changed. It should be noted that many features of another novelty from this manufacturing company, the Ritmo model, were borrowed here. A 1.3-liter gasoline power unit was installed under the hood of the car, capable of developing 74 “horses”. Some changes also affected the interior, which began to correspond to new trends in the automotive industry of that period. The third generation of the model was produced both at factories in Italy and at the company's enterprises,located in other countries.
End of story
In 1983, the Italian manufacturer introduced its new Uno model. After that, the company's management decided to stop production of the Fiat 127. At the same time, it should be noted that the car was assembled at South American factories almost until the mid-nineties of the last century. Moreover, it was actively supplied to the markets of different countries (including Europe) until 1987.
