In the motorcycle world, the word "Honda" is considered magical. It is synonymous with such concepts as "reliability", "quality", "style". Consider the Africa Twin Honda motorcycle. It is not surprising that this model is very popular. It is considered one of the best motorcycles in the class. It is noteworthy that at present the model with an engine capacity of 750 cubic meters, the production of which has long been discontinued, is in the greatest demand. The bike's lifespan seems to be huge.
Today the company releases another model from the "African" line, the motor of which is even larger - 1000 cm3. Its popularity is also gaining momentum, but too little time has passed since the official release to be able to talk about the widespread distribution and wholesale exclusion of competitors from the market.
In many ways, these bikes are very similar. In our article, we will consider the features of the model using the example of "seven hundred and fifty", but, of course, we will also touch on a liter motorcycle.
Differences from predecessor
Africa Twin The Honda XRV 750 replaced the 650cc model in 1989. The new motorcycle received not only a larger engine, but also some other improvements. Oil and liquidthe pumps were replaced with more powerful ones, the frame and suspension were strengthened, in addition, the motorcycle got an oil cooler, a front disc brake, a fairing.
Brief history of the model
Sales started in 1990. The model received the number RD04. In 1993, minor updates took place: the frame was lightened (by 4 kg), the swingarm was slightly shortened, and the saddle height was reduced. "Africa", released in the time interval from 93 to 96, is known under the number RD07.
In 1996, another revision of the characteristics took place. The RD07A received a stronger clutch, updated ignition, a new seat and a more powerful muffler. The fairing design has been slightly redesigned.
In 2000, production was discontinued. But dealers continued to sell the vehicles they had in stock until 2004.
Shortly before the release, the manufacturer announced the continuation of the legendary "African" line. A prototype Honda XRV850 Africa Twin was developed, but it did not enter mass production. In return, Honda introduced the flagship XL1000V Varadero enduro touring car. He gained his fans, but could not repeat the success of Africa.
Since there were very few Honda models in the touring-enduro motorcycle class at that time, the company decided to strengthen its position. The manufacturer thought about the resurrection of the Africa Twin brand. And so the Honda CRF1000 Africa Twin was born. This bike was the answer to European companies: Ducati Multistrada, BMW R1200GS, Triumph Tiger Explorer.
Target Audience
Howas a rule, touring enduro bikes are chosen by adventurers. In the city of "Africa" he feels quite confident, but his native element is long-distance roads.
Strong suspension allows you to overcome bumps without feeling much shaking. Off-road enthusiasts will certainly appreciate the high ground clearance.
The model came out quite large. This did not escape the attention of tall riders. Experts note that, other things being equal, pilots with a height above 175 cm often prefer this particular motorcycle. But this does not mean that a man of average height will be uncomfortable.
On a long trip, a lot depends not only on the technical parameters of the vehicle, but also on its comfort. All Africa models are equipped with a comfortable seat. The manufacturer has taken care not only about the comfort of the pilot - the passenger seat is also spacious and soft.
Specifications
What is under the skin elements? Buyers of the Africa Twin Honda 750 motorcycle are primarily interested in this issue. From a technical point of view, this bike can be called an average bike these days. But when it entered the market, it was simply inimitable.

About reliability
As befits a touring enduro, the Africa 750 has an impressive margin of safety. But this model also has "chronic diseases." These include the following:
- after 50,000 km, the fuel pump starts to suffer;
- after the same mark, problems with the speedometer cable may begin;
- the terminal block between the generator and the relay-regulator is short-lived;
- Clutch may become noisy after prolonged use.
Some of the above problems can be fixed by yourself.
New model in the line - Honda Africa Twin CRF1000
Looking at the photo, you can see that the design of the new bike is much more advanced. There are few technical changes. The bike is equipped with a dashboard that meets modern requirements. However, it is worth noting that some owners complain about the inverted display, which is hard to see under the bright sun.
The bike is even bigger than its predecessors. This is not a defect andadvantage, rather taste. Those who love space will surely appreciate this moment.
At the moment, the Africa Twin Honda 1000 cannot be said to be as popular as ever. Perhaps there is still more to come.
Estimated cost
Touring-enduro bikes, especially from Japanese brands, are not cheap. The price tag for a new model with a liter engine in the official showroom today starts at 16.5 thousand rubles.
