Lada 2116 is another hope for the domestic auto industry

The first impression that occurs with a cursory glance at the VAZ 2116 is a feeling of despondency and boredom.

The design is somewhat reminiscent of a budget Korean mass-produced car, but in comparison with the predecessors of the same VAZ, progress is clearly evident. At least those who value practicality will appreciate such a decision by designers, but things are a little different with the interior. It seems that the designers and designers of Lada 2116 have not yet decided to the end: add a touch of modernity to the interior or make a practical car. However, given that the car belongs to the budget segment, there will certainly be true fans of this model.

When a few years ago there was only information about the release of the car Lada 2116, the question that, perhaps, most worried the public, concerned the technical characteristics of the car.

As it turned out, not in vain. The new Lada 2116 in this regard was able to pleasantly surprise - the car is equipped with 1.6 and 1.8 - liter gasoline engines, as a basiswhich were taken modified power units of previous generations. Moreover, there is a possibility of a complete set and more perspective option of the motor (volume 2, 3 liters). The transmission is available in five- and six-speed transmission formats. The power steering wheel makes less than 3 revolutions from lock to lock. In addition to the above, Lada 2116 boasts a fairly rich basic package, which includes: anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution, emergency braking booster, airbags, on-board computer, front power windows, athermal windows, child car seat mounts, adjustment driver's seat and central locking - you must admit, an impressive set for a car, which by and large belongs to the budget segment. As for additional options, the vehicle's equipment can be expanded with heating and electric mirrors, heated front seats, air conditioning, headlight washers, rain and light sensors, xenon and parking sensors.

As for safety, a number of crash tests of the Lada 2116 car were carried out, photos of the results of which can be easily found on thematic resources. Out of 16 possible points, the sedan scored 13.9, thus demonstrating a high level of protection not only for the driver and passengers, but also for pedestrians in the event of a collision with the latter. This was made possible by the introduction of soft alloy elements in the front of the car. Such test results inin general, they are not typical for the domestic auto industry, so they can undoubtedly be included in the assets of designers.

So, what can Lada 2116 offer for those approximately 12 thousand euros that a new car costs? First of all, the most striking design (does not leave the feeling of similarity with the Volkswagen lines of past years). But for functionality, designers can be given a solid 4 plus, because even in the basic configuration the car looks quite solid. It is difficult to say for sure whether this car is worth that kind of money. This option is entirely a compromise, and it remains for you to decide whether you are ready for it.
