Silent locks as an alternative to factory solutions

It must be admitted that the domestic auto industry is still uncompetitive. Regrettably, but the terrible shortcomings of Russian-made cars make us think about the advisability of acquiring a car in this segment. However, for lack of large funds, many motorists still buy classic models from AvtoVAZ, GAZ and UAZ. Our citizens are already accustomed to modifying the products of the domestic automobile industry for their money, so let's talk about how silent locks are installed on the doors of classic models.

First of all, it should be noted that this process is simple and no special skills are required here. It is enough to arm yourself with a screwdriver and a bit of patience. When installing and dismantling locks, you should be careful, as some parts may fall inside the door. To get them, you have to remove the skin, and this is additional time and effort.

Why do factory locks make a loud sound? The answer is simple: metal locks cannot be closed in any other way, their clang will be heard everywhere within a radius of 500 meters.

Silent locks are made in the same way as ordinary locks, only plastic sections are provided in their design. Thanks to them, at the moment the latch comes into contact with the latch, the noise is muffled. Why the domestic manufacturer has not yet solved such a simple problem is a mystery even for the manufacturer himself. However, attempts to rectify the situation were already in the latest developments from AvtoVAZ, but the problem was not completely eliminated. Therefore, the installation of silent locks on the classics and not only is relevant to this day.

You can buy silent locks in almost all stores specializing in the sale of auto parts. It should be noted that the concept of such locks is available only in Russia, and it is difficult to find something useful on foreign portals for this request. They probably skipped the period when this problem was relevant even before the advent of the Internet.

To install silent locks, you do not need to change door handles, larvae, order new keys, cables and central locking drives. It is enough to replace only the element where the fixation hook is located.

The procedure is carried out in several stages. Initially, two bolts are unscrewed that hold the lock. The element is dismantled so that it does not fall through the door. To do this, the lower bolt is first unscrewed, and the lower part of the element is set aside. Then the upper bolt is loosened, the element is removed. It remains to install a silent analogue using the same method, only in reverse order.

Next, on the stand where the latch is located, the bolt is unscrewed and the pin is dismantled, and a new one is screwed in instead.

Thus changing silent locks on all doors. After the installation is completed, it remains only to adjust the elements so that they close tightly and do not damage the paintwork of the body. Finally, the doors will stop making a frightening sound, and the neighbors will be able to sleep peacefully, your swallow will not disturb their peace even at night.
