- Retaining ring.

- Return spring.

Working principle

When you press the clutch pedal on the piston is pressure from the metal rod. Further, the liquid, moving through the pipelines, actuates the clutch slave cylinder. UAZ "Hunter" has aluminum lines, which are replaced with rubber ones at the junctions. Under the influence of high pressure, the rod releases the release bearing. This stops the transfer of torque from the engine to the gearbox. When the pedal is released, the clutch slave cylinder (UAZ-469 is no exception) reconnects the clutch discs. Torque transmission resumes. It is worth noting the ease of use of such a system. Compared to the cable drive, such a pedal is pressed much easier. The disc connects softly and smoothly. Lining wear is minimal.
Signs of problems
How do you know if your car needs a clutch slave cylinder replacement? UAZ is a very reliable car, but this part can also fail. Damage can be determined by several signs. Firstly, this is a sharp decrease in the level of liquid in the tank. If there is a leak, the cylinder boot may have broken through. Also, damage can affect rubber or aluminum tubes. Check their integrity. Secondly, the pedal travel becomes moresoft. Clutch failures are observed. This indicates the presence of air in the system.
It can only get in with mechanical damage to the anther or the case itself. In this case, it is necessary to repair the part or completely change the clutch slave cylinder. DIY replacement
First, you need to drain the remaining fluid in the system. This can be done with a syringe. This operation is necessary in order to flush the hydraulic drive system from dirt. On some models, access may be blocked by the expansion tank of the cooling system. For convenience, we remove the fixing nuts of the container and remove the hose. It should be unscrewed with a key of 10. Next, we dismantle the metal tube that comes from the clutch master cylinder. It can be copper or aluminum. After that, we take out the main cylinder, having previously unscrewed the two fixing nuts with a 13 wrench. Using a 17 head, it is necessary to remove the hose that comes from the working cylinder. Next, we again need the key to 13.
With it, we unscrew the two bolts that secure the clutch slave cylinder. UAZ atit is in neutral gear. The working cylinder itself on this car is mounted on the gearbox housing. In order not to damage other elements, carefully disconnect the pushrod from the fork. If the hoses are removed “on the fly” (that is, on the removed element), the cylinder can be fixed with an adjustable wrench on one side, and on the other, unscrew the tube with a cape. But be careful, as mechanical stress can crack the rubber.
Self Repair
So, the part is removed and ready for disassembly. First, unscrew the valve to release the air and take out the retaining ring. After disassembling the part, we inspect the condition of all elements - springs, pistons, pushers and sealing rubber bands. They should not show signs of mechanical damage. Next, we wash the inside of the element. It is not necessary to do this with the help of aggressive liquids like gasoline and diesel fuel. Fill the medical syringe with hydraulic fluid and pressurize the dirt inside it.
If the damage is only local, we need a repair kit to restore it. It is worth noting that even with one damaged part, all elements change entirely, be it an elastic band, anther or a spring. This will increase the service life of the working cylinder.
When can not be restored?
In some cases, repairs will not work. The replacement of the working cylinder is carried out in case of damage to the body (the presence of a crack), or a large output inside it. The latter may occur due to a faulty ordefective stock. With any of these malfunctions, the UAZ clutch slave cylinder is replaced entirely with a new one. The cost of the element is about five hundred to six hundred rubles. The clutch master cylinder costs a little more - 750 rubles. A repair kit can be purchased at a price of 150 to 200 rubles. The amount is not impressive, therefore, with a limited time, it is better to immediately replace the element with a new one in the assembly. After the clutch slave cylinder is installed, the UAZ needs to be “pumped”. So we will eliminate all existing air jams in the lines and adjust the normal pedal travel.
Leveling
After successful installation and assembly of the element, it is necessary to fill in new hydraulic fluid. The same is used as for the brake system. After that, we unscrew the air valve of the working cylinder a few turns and press the clutch pedal 5-7 times. In order not to run to the salon several times, call an assistant who will pump the system. Be careful - when you press the pedal, hydraulic fluid will flow from the valve. Therefore, pre-prepare the container. It could be an ordinary mineral water bottle.
And to avoid smudges, use a rubber hose. Put one end on the air valve, and lower the other into the neck of the bottle. At first, the liquid will splash - this is normal. Subsequent presses will decrease the amount of air. Press the pedal until clear, bubble-free liquid comes out of the hose. This will mean that the airthe system is no more. Screw the valve back on and put on the protective rubber cap. Due to its location, water, dirt and dust constantly get on the part. This rubber cap is provided to protect the valve from clogging. Check the level under the hood. If necessary, add up to the maximum mark. During operation, keep the level at the maximum. At this stage, the pumping of the UAZ clutch slave cylinder is completed. The pedal will get its factory travel.
Adjustment of UAZ clutch slave cylinder
To avoid incomplete engagement or disengagement of the gear, it is necessary to adjust the stroke of the cylinder rod. To do this, clean the adjusting nuts with WD-40. On one side of the element, we loosen the lock nut, and on the other, we fix the bolt with the second key.
Using a horn for 8, we clamp the end of the pusher. When the stem is fixed, unscrew the locknut a couple of turns counterclockwise. Next, set the pitch of the free screw. Ideally, the stem should move completely. After that, we fix the lock nut with a key and thus maintain the full stroke of the cylinder. This completes the adjustment process. It should be noted that it is not necessary to perform this operation on new elements. Well, if a repair kit was used, it is advisable to check the free play of the rod. Now various slippage of the slave and master disks will be excluded. For any action with clutch elements, do not forget to pump it.
Prevention
For the clutch system to last as long as possiblelonger, monitor the fluid level in the system.
After 2 years or 50 thousand kilometers, it must be drained and filled with a new one. After this procedure, be sure to bleed the system. Remember that hydraulic fluid absorbs moisture well. If replacement is delayed, rust will form in the system, which will shorten the life of the clutch master and slave cylinders. Watch the tightness of the tubes, especially in places where metal and rubber are connected.
It happens that the material cracks or rubs against the wheel (if we are talking about the front). This is very dangerous, because if the system is depressurized, you will be left without a clutch and you can only get to your destination by towing or ruining your gearbox.
