The whole mechanism is controlled by the clutch pedal. It is suspended on a separate bracket. By pressing it, the driver moves the clutch fork. That, in turn, disconnects the box from the engine flywheel with the help of a basket and a friction disc. After engaging the desired gear under the action of a return spring, the pedal moves up. The friction disc engages with the flywheel. Torque is transmitted to the box, and then to the drive wheels. The drive has a fairly simple device, so owners often do not face the problem of replacing the cable. However, if it is interrupted, you will notice it immediately. Transmissions will not engage normally.

Why is this happening?

In general, the cable is a very reliable element, and it is quite difficult to break it. As a rule, such a breakdown occurs due to a large load on the part (or the car has traveled more than 300 thousand kilometers).

The main symptom of a malfunction is a failed clutch pedal. We also note that such a symptom is observed when the clutch fork breaks. Its resource is much less. But in any case, without a clutch, you can get to the service yourself. To do this, the car is started in first gear and begins to move along with the start of the engine. Switch tothe next speed is produced with regassing. When getting to the place of repair, avoid large intersections. Otherwise, you will stall "in gear".

To perform this operation, we need a minimum set of tools. Among them, it is necessary to prepare the keys "for 8", "for 17" and "for 19". We will also need a Phillips screwdriver. Replacing the clutch cable VAZ-2110 with your own hands can be done in two ways:

1. With the removal of the wiper and jabot.
2. Without withdrawal.

Method 1

This method takes a little longer. However, dismantling elements such as a windshield wiper and a jabot (this is a decorative panel that is located under the “arms” of the wipers) will greatly facilitate the process of replacing the cable. So where do you start work? First you need to dismantle the wiper with wrenches, and then the plastic lining under it.

So we will release the clutch cable of the 2110th VAZ from the fork. We shift the cover from the tip of the cable and unscrew the nut, with which the tip is attached to the bracket on the transmission. With the second key ("on 19") we keep the tip from turning. We take out the part from the fasteners. The handpiece bracket is removed from the studs. Next, unscrew the screw of the protective cover holder. The latter is bent a little to the side. So we can get to the tip of the clutch cable. Using a screwdriver, remove the locking bracket. We take out the tip. Next, we go tosalon.

Here we need to unscrew the bolt with which the cable is attached to the pedal. We dismantle the bushing and inspect its technical condition. If necessary, we make a replacement. Don't forget about lubrication. On a VAZ-2110 car, replacing the clutch cable is not complete without its pre-treatment with Litol. Assembly is carried out in reverse order.

Method 2

Now let's look at how the clutch cable is replaced on a VAZ-2110 car without removing the wiper and decorative lining. First, we take the “19” key in our hands and unscrew the cable fasteners. Remove the tip from the clutch release fork.

Next, we move to the salon and unscrew the nut fastening the element to the pedal with the “8” key. We slightly lift the latter and pry off the clip, after which we disconnect the bracket. Further, the cable can be completely removed from the passenger compartment. The new element is also installed from the passenger compartment. We push it into the engine compartment and fix it in place. Assembly is done in reverse order.

Adjustment

Regardless of how the clutch cable was replaced on the VAZ-2110 car, the element must be adjusted after work. The whole point of the operation is to set the pedal free play.

The distance between the passenger compartment floor and the upper position of the clutch lever should be 12.5-13centimeters. You can measure the distance with a regular tape measure. Visually, it should be at the same level as the accelerator, as well as the brake pedal. To adjust the clearance, you need to loosen the nut on the gearbox bracket with a wrench. The selection method sets the normal pedal distance between the floor. When setting up, it is important not to rush. Otherwise, the whole procedure will have to be repeated. When the gap is 12.5 centimeters, finally tighten the nuts and check the operation of the clutch. It is better to make a small test drive. After one or two kilometers, you will understand how correctly the clutch has been adjusted. If the pedal is too high or too low, adjust its position again using the same nuts.
