Loading equipment is an essential attribute of any construction site. Every year, technological progress regularly brings a variety of new products to this labor-intensive industry. The operation of self-propelled vehicles powered by an internal combustion engine is at the heart of large-scale construction and installation of large-scale structures. This article will consider a mobile crane - a mechanism that is actively used in many sectors of the national economy. Its features will be discussed in detail in the article.

General information

So, what is a mobile crane? This is a modern design capable of moving independently at the operator's command and lifting loads to a sufficiently high height. The length of the arrow of such a device may well reach 100 meters. The speed of movement of the machine depends on the load capacity and dimensions of the boom and therefore varies between 5-25 meters per minute while lifting the load, or 1-4 revolutions during rotation. It will take an average of two minutes to raise the boom from zero to maximum position.

Features

Mobile crane has a slightly reduced inherent reliability during operation incompared to other lifting equipment. Therefore, taking into account this fact, in all modern units it is necessary to install a device that clearly monitors the safety of all ongoing work, and they are also equipped with a special unit - a “black box”, which captures all the available parameters of the machine during the planned operational period.

Classification

Today, a mobile crane can be made not only in the form of a car, but also be powerful aggregates on tracks or, conversely, in the form of a portal structure. We will study all of them, because each of these units has its own characteristics of operation and device.

Cargo lifting vehicles

This crane is essentially a powerful vehicle with a lifting unit that is mounted on a vehicle chassis. Due to its high speed of movement, this technique has become very widespread during work carried out in areas that are significantly remote in space from each other. These cranes can have three types of drive:

• Hydraulic.
• Mechanical.
• Electric.

Another indisputable advantage of truck cranes is that, due to their small dimensions, they can be operated even on small sites.

Pneumatic installations

As a running gear in such cranes, special chassis are used, on which there are axles withrigid suspension. The speed of movement of such units is very small and does not exceed 20 kilometers per hour.

Tracked vehicles

These mobile cranes are characterized by extremely low driving speed, which is literally a matter of kilometers. But at the same time, this equipment is good because it is able to overcome almost any obstacles and may well drive on a dirt surface even with an impressive load. However, due to their massiveness, crawler cranes have simply disgusting maneuverability, which complicates the work of its operator.

Pipelayers

This powerful equipment is produced with a special side boom, which serves to lift and move loads during the installation of various pipelines. These cranes are used in the process of laying pipes in trenches, holding long and heavy lines in the process of their welding, at the time of assembly and dismantling operations.

Load lifting mechanisms of this type have a base machine, specialized attachments for cargo handling, control systems, transmission, instrumentation. The base tractor is used as power equipment.

Hand Models

Such load-lifting machines have insignificant weight and dimensions in comparison with their boom counterparts. In addition, manual mobile cranes are quite reliable and simple in design, they are quickly installed at the place of work. These machines are divided into such maintypes:

• Portable crane.
• A crane attached directly to the structure of a building or structure.
• Crane mounted on the surface of a building or ground.

In turn, a mobile beam crane is very convenient when there is a need to use it in small-sized premises - warehouses, garages, workshops, car services. With the help of such a lifting unit, various vehicles are unloaded, materials are supplied to the work area, etc.

Dockworker

The mobile harbor crane is a unique machine with an optimized chassis design and a particularly precise control system. These high-performance units effectively perform the functions assigned to them and are used to carry out the following operations:

• Transshipment of containers.
• Stacking.
• Scrap handling.
• Bulk handling.
• Transshipment of piece cargo.

To date, one of the most powerful mobile port cranes is the Liebherr LHM 800, which operates on the territory of the Bronka multifunctional marine transshipment complex (St. Petersburg). This machine is capable of lifting 308 tons in hook mode and around 60 tons in twin-lift spreader mode.

Liebherr mobile crane deserves special attention. First of all, we note that this lifting mechanismproduced by the company of the same name for many years and is a high-tech machine that can work smoothly at a high level for many years.

By the way, the fact is important: the Swiss produce a truck crane based on the chassis of their own production, and not using third-party equipment. This guarantees the full operation of the crane and the exclusion of various emergency situations associated with the engine or transmission.

The Liebherr brand is also interesting because it has its own design office, which uses only advanced technologies and developments in its work.

The Liebherr mobile crane is produced in the following series:

• LTM – cranes on a telescopic chassis with a high degree of maneuverability. In addition to the fact that they are able to overcome absolutely any ground, they also travel quite quickly along the highway. So far, the Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1 is considered to be the most powerful crane on the planet, with a lifting capacity of 1200 tons.
• LTF are construction cranes characterized by the ability to lift/lower loads without the use of retractable outrigger legs. Such a machine, arriving at the construction site, is able to almost instantly begin to perform the planned tasks. This gives the crane a significant advantage when it does not need to be permanently on site, but needs to move between different production areas.
• MK - self-propelled tower cranes. These units are good because, unlike conventional cranes of this design, moving along rails, they provide an excellent opportunity to significantly reduce the time spent on arranging a construction site, and this, in turn, reduces the construction time of a building or other object.
• LTC – compact size telescopic cranes. Due to its small-sized design of the automobile chassis and the direct lifting unit, the machine is able to function even in very cramped conditions, which is quite common today during the construction of houses in urban areas. This feature of the crane makes it possible to operate it during the liquidation of various natural disasters, man-made accidents or for repair work in public utilities.

Special mention should be made of the Liebherr LG 1750 truck crane. The chassis of the machine is six-axle, and four high-strength folding beams form a support in the form of a star with a base of 16 x 16 meters.
