Liquid fenders as a means of protecting car arches

To protect the car body from corrosion, different types of fender liner are used. Such parts made of plastic are already considered classics, however, liquid wheel arch liners (lockers) are widely used these days.

The steel sheet from which the car body is made requires anti-corrosion protection from aggressive environments. The car frame is constantly exposed to heavy loads and vibrations. At the same time, the action of moisture, sand, dirt and saline solutions, which fall on the metal from the outside during the ride, is also added. Therefore, the protection of the body, which is provided by liquid fenders, becomes a necessity. If the car is not protected, the first traces of rust will be visible in a year and a half.

Some motorists naively believe that if the unit is purchased in a store, it has undergone anti-corrosion treatment, therefore, additional protective parts are not required. The rest, who have no illusions about the quality and durability of factory protection, cannot come to a consensus on the choice of plastic or liquid wheel arch liners. Everyone can make their choice.

Plastic wheel arch liners are made of low-pressure polyethylene, they are installed directly into the car arch, straightened in place and fastened with rivets (self-tapping screws) to the body. Plastic fenders are durable and less prone to wear. They can be installed without the use of special equipment.

Their disadvantages include drilling additional holes in the car body. Fender liners are manufactured by enterprises for each car model, and the area that is protected by a plastic fender liner is limited by its size.

Liquid fender liner is applied to the surface of the wheel arches - this makes the protection more reliable, especially the space between the car body and the fender liner. A special composition (liquid locker) is applied to the bottom of the body and the inner surface of the arches, thereby providing good anti-noise and anti-corrosion properties.

The advantages of these wheel arch liners include the fact that the use of plastic mass reduces wheel noise by half. There is no need for additional drilling of the body. The application area of liquid fender liner is not limited. They are universal for all car models.

When liquid wheel arch liners are used in winter, motorist reviews indicate that snow can clog into arches and turn into ice when temperatures change, which is dangerous for suspensions. Applying a locker requires cleaning the arches from dirt, adhering to the application technology and special equipment (compressor and sprayer).

Noxudol liquid liners - is a viscous bituminous compound to which rubber granules have been added. They are common in most countries of the world and are considered universal. A similar version of protective parts can be found in any car model.

The question of what to choose, plastic or liquid wheel arch liners, should be answered - one cannot contradict the other. If possible, it is better to apply both technologies at once, such an output would be ideal. The elements of the car body also need additional protection through the installation of protective linings or the application of anti-gravel agents.
