Is Vesta's ground clearance suitable?

New Ladas are gradually filling Russian cities. Of course, the final Vesta differs radically from the originally presented concept, but nevertheless, this car can be safely called a breakthrough in the domestic auto industry. Given the dimensions, smoothness, good handling, engine performance, dynamic performance and the clearance of the Lada Vesta, it significantly exceeds all past AvtoVAZ models.

Characteristics of "Lada Vesta"

You can buy a car with a 1.6 or 1.8 liter engine from an authorized dealer. The last power unit is available only with an automatic transmission, but the younger engine can be taken with both an automatic and a manual transmission. Mechanics is only suitable for those who want to save money. For complete comfort, you should choose an automatic. Driving dynamics and fuel consumption are also best in the automatic transmission version.

Clearance "Lada Vesta" is 178 mm. This is quite enough for driving around our cities and villages. Soon the manufacturer promises to releasea special version, which will have even higher cross-country ability. In the new Lada Veste Cross, the ground clearance will be increased, maybe there will be an opportunity to choose all-wheel drive, who knows, there is no exact information yet. The appearance of such a car will fill the niche of the middle class, which is currently not represented by domestic cars.

Buying a used Vesta

Now it is quite easy to buy a Lada Vesta car from your hands. You will hardly find rusty cars for sale. The model is still too new for such instances to appear. Here a broken car can be or a car with a “killed” suspension. It's good that the clearance of the Lada Vesta allows you to quickly inspect the car right on the spot. There is another way. You can simply check the clearance of the Lada Vesta, and if it is less in the car than stated by the manufacturer, then it is likely that the owner has installed other shock absorbers, or the suspension is simply faulty.

Revision of Vesta

As for lowering the car, you should immediately know that now they are very carefully looking at all the improvements, and if the low clearance of the Lada Vesta is not indicated in the documents, then this is bad. In general, the issue of understating Vesta is very controversial. The handling of the car is at a fairly high level, so there is simply no need to make the car lower. In addition, AvtoVAZ plans to release a sports version that will be more powerful, faster and lower than the model offered today. After waiting for the sports version, you can choose the best model for yourself. The clearance of "Vesta" with the "sport" index is unlikely to be very different from the usual "regular" model. Most likely, the dampers will tighten up a little, making their setting more rigid, while removing 15-20 mm of ground clearance. The figures, of course, can differ both up and down, but one thing is known for sure - we are unlikely to see overpriced models, as in the case of Kalina Cross.

Some companies offer to purchase spacers that will make the clearance of "Lada Vesta" a little more. Naturally, handling and general weight distribution of the car may suffer from such improvements, so you should not be zealous with installing non-standard parts, especially when using the car in the city.

Real clearance

Specifications given by the automaker are always slightly different from the real ones. As a rule, some suspension elements and other components make the car much lower than advertising posters claim. When loaded, the machine becomes even lower.

Official documents speak of a ground clearance of 178 mm, but even if we measure the distance from the ground to the standard mudguards, we get 171 mm already, and this is not a loaded Vesta. Clearance real will be even less. After all, it is extremely rare for a car to move with an empty trunk and without passengers. At maximum load, the ground clearance of Vesta is reduced to 144 mm.

Is it a lot or a little? It will be very problematic to fully load the trunk of 400 liters. A plustake on board 4 passengers. But if it succeeds, then standard curbs will already become an obstacle.

But the overhangs of the bumpers pleased, they are higher than the declared ground clearance of "Vesta", so it's not scary to split or scratch the bumper when parking. Even the standard engine protection does not reduce the height of the car, which is a huge plus.

The cost of "Lada Vesta"

A new car is sold at a price of 515,900 rubles for the basic version, but when choosing a car with an automatic and a full range of additional options, you will need to pay 650-700 thousand rubles. Prices for used cars start at 280-300 thousand rubles. For this money, all budget foreign cars from Logan to Focus became competitors of Vesta, although the price of the latter is already far from budget models. "Lada" is much more prepared for the conditions of our roads, especially if you do not live in the capital, but in quiet provincial cities. This is one of its biggest advantages.
