Nothing lasts forever in a car - many parts are consumables. The same applies to the rear brake pads. During the operation of the car, they will certainly wear out. Periodically check their condition and replace if excessive wear. Let's see how the replacement of the rear pads on the Priore is done. Every motorist can cope with this task.
Why do rear pads wear so much?
Rear pad wear rate is influenced by several factors. In the first place here is the illiterate work of the driver with the brake system. Given the fact that the Priora is equipped with a fairly powerful engine, most drivers prefer aggressive driving with rapid acceleration and hard braking. With this manner of movement, the operation of the brake system of the car leads to the fact that the rear pads wear out very intensively. Manyinexperienced car owners, due to ignorance, practically do not use engine braking.
The second factor is the replacement of the rear pads on the Priore with low-quality spare parts. Dubious manufacturers of cheap elements for the production of the friction layer of linings can use low-quality, and sometimes simply unsuitable materials. This can not only reduce the replacement schedule recommended by the manufacturer, but also render the brake drums unusable. Let's look at the main signs that require an urgent replacement of the rear brake pads on the Priore.
Brake pedal wobble when braking
When the thickness of the friction layer on the block approaches the critical, the process of erasing the lining is uneven. Various cracks and chips may form on the surface. All this leads to increased noise during braking and vibrations. But we must remember that a similar symptom may appear due to excessive wear of the drum.
Incorrect operation of the brake system
Uncharacteristic braking can also inform about the proximity of replacing the rear pads on the Priore. Strongly weak or, on the contrary, sharp braking with a moderate force on the pedal indicates a strong wear of the rear pads. There is more travel on the pedal. She sinks almost to the floor. The metal part of the block touches the working surface of the drum, the wheel is abruptly blocked.
Pads leave dust on the drum
Sometimes even experienced drivers cannot tell by their behaviorcar critically worn lining. Therefore, you should pay attention to the condition of the drums - you need to open them and diagnose them. If there is a coating of metal dust on the working part, then this indicates that the friction lining has long ended and the brake works with a metal base.
Diagnostic pads
You can estimate the degree of wear of the rear pad by the state of the front - on a similar model of AvtoVAZ, it wears out much faster than the rear. For this, the brake mechanism has a special window with a rubber plug.
The last one needs to be pulled out. Through the viewing slot, you can roughly estimate how much is left before replacing the rear pads on the Priore. If the pad thickness is 1.5 mm or less, then the front pads must also be changed. They also require replacement if the linings on them are oily, there are deep chips or grooves. It happens that the friction lining peels off from the metal base. This is also a reason to replace.
To assess the condition of the drums and pads, you need to remove the rear wheel and drums. There should be no mechanical defects on the surface of the latter. If the wear of the working surface is quite strong, there are deep grooves on it, then the part needs to be changed.
Also, check the brake fluid level. The new pads are thicker than the old ones, and to replace the rear pads on the Priore, it will be necessary to press the brake pistons into the cylinder. Fluid may leak from under the expansion tank cap. Handbrakeshould be released. The parking brake cables should be released as much as possible.
Features
First of all, they remove the rear wheel and fix the car. If the equipment has an anti-lock braking system, then the rear brakes have design features, and this must be taken into account. On a car with ABS, disconnect the wheel speed sensor from the brake shield. This is done so as not to damage the sensor or wiring. Under the drum there is a master disk of the ABS sensor. How to dismantle it? Remove the sensor using the head E8.
Replacement of rear pads without ABS and with ABS
With a key for 7 or a similar head, the guide wheels are unscrewed. You need to unscrew carefully. If it is not unscrewed with a key, then it is better to work with the head - the thread can be easily damaged. Then the drum is dismantled. If it is not removed, then knock on it with a hammer from the back side through the bars. Strikes must be applied evenly. When replacing the rear pads on the Priore with ABS, you must also remove the disc.
Then squeeze the rear brake pistons. This can be done with two screwdrivers. The piston should be sunk inside the cylinder on each side. To carry out a similar procedure, you can press on the pads with screwdrivers. The latter are conveniently supported on the collar of the brake flap.
Then, use a screwdriver to disengage the hook of the upper return spring. The latter will be connected to the block. And then you can remove the spring. The upper stops of the pads lead outfrom the slots of the pistons and remove the spacer bar. Similar operations are carried out with the lower coupling spring.
Use the same screwdriver to disengage the pressure spring. It is also connected to the block. Now you can remove the front pad. If you release the spring from the rear shoe, you can also remove it. The handbrake lever can be removed from the cable end hole. Then you can move on to installing new parts. Be sure to change the pads only as a set on the left and right wheels. There are four pads to change in total.
Features of the choice of pads
It must be remembered that only products specifically for ABS are suitable for replacing the rear brake pads on the Priore with ABS. Regular ones won't work. The price of spare parts is from 400 rubles.
Setting the parking brake
After replacing the pads, you may need to adjust the handbrake. Adjust it with an adjusting nut. The full travel of the parking brake should be approximately 2-4 clicks. A properly adjusted handbrake in the lowered state should not block the wheels. They should spin easily.
After replacing the rear brake pads on the Priore, extraneous sounds may appear during braking - this is normal. Parts should rub against the drum. After some time (300 kilometers), these sounds should disappear.

Tips for replacing the rear pads VAZ-2107
Brake pads are an important component in cars. The main task is to brake and stop the car. There are 8 of them in the car, that is, 4 in the back and 4 in the front. If these parts fail, then the car starts to slow down and stop worse, and there are also extraneous noises that will interfere with the driver and passengers. Therefore, it is necessary not only to monitor the he alth of this node, but to update the elements in time. Consider replacing the rear pads VAZ-2107 in our article
