- Loosen the nuts securing the lower arm to the axle, but do not remove them.
- Load the suspension by placing a second jack under the lower control arm. Only in this case willremove stabilizer.
Almost all the manipulations are done, it remains only to completely remove the spring from the car.
Spring removal
On both sides of the car, the springs are removed in the same way. When replacing the VAZ front springs, you need to have a minimum set of tools on hand. Be sure to have a screed - you can not do without it. Next steps:
- Set the ties opposite each other and compress the spring as evenly as possible.
- Unscrew the nuts that secure the stabilizer cushion with the key to "10".
- Completely remove the cushion and stabilizer bracket.
- Loosen lower ball joint to arm.
- Lower the second jack under the arm. After the lever is lowered, the spring can be removed.
It makes no sense to press the ball joint out of the steering knuckle - this is a very difficult task and requires a puller. It will be much easier to unscrew the three bolts that secure the clip to the lever. The spring must be compressed as much as possible. Be sure to remove the spacer from the top cup. If it is damaged or deformed, it should be replaced.
Installing a new spring
When replacing springs with your own hands, no difficulties should arise. The only thing to consider is the presence of rust and dirt. Clean all threaded connections in advance and treat them with a penetrating lubricant. The installation procedure is carried out inreverse order:
- Ties are put on new springs.
- Twist the zip ties to shorten the length of the spring.
- Fix the rubber spacer on the top with electrical tape.
- After installing the new spring, carefully lift the lower arm with a jack.
- Install the ball cage and fasten the mounting bolts.
How to change rear springs?
In order for the repair to be as effective as possible, it is necessary to carry out diagnostics of the rear suspension elements.
If there are also breakdowns, then it is necessary to carry out repairs. Replacing the springs on the rear suspension is much easier. Here is a brief description of the ongoing work:
- Jack the car up and remove the wheels.
- Unscrew the rod that fits the brake regulator.
- Remove the tee mounting bracket.
- Unscrew the shock absorber mount from below.
- Unscrew the nut on the top of the shock absorber.
After all these manipulations, it is necessary to install new springs in reverse order. Be sure to compress the springs with zip ties to facilitate removal. In advance, preferably several hours in advance, treat all threaded connections without exception with penetrating lubricant.
