Introduced in 1960, the Ford Falcon was one of the simplest cars produced by this company, and at the same time one of the most unusual.

It should start with the fact that he became the first "compact" (for America of those times) Ford. In addition, the car had a very simple design, somewhat reminiscent of the Russian "Moskvich", and a small number of "bells and whistles". This was very unusual for the car market of those years, but this move brought success to the company: due to the relative ease of assembly, it was possible to produce this model in large volumes, and its cost was relatively low, which ensured good sales and competitiveness.

The first Ford Falcon had an elongated, absolutely simple shape, without any decorations or frills. Flat windows were small in size, which, by the way, made the car stand out quite strongly, because at that time panoramic windows of a huge size were prescribed in fashion. There was nothing remarkable in the cabin either: low-key design, straight dashboard. Except that the tape speedometer and the three-seater sofa in front distinguished this Ford.

But despite its simplicity, Falcon was able to quicklywin the love and recognition of motorists. Its small size, affordable price, and particular grace won it many fans, most of whom were women and family people.

By the way, regarding the performance - Ford Falcon was a very good car. A fairly powerful engine (90 horsepower) with a volume of 2.4 liters, equipped with six cylinders, was installed on it. The capacity of this car is also remarkable: six people could sit freely in it due to the fact that not two chairs were installed in front, but one sofa.

Remarkably, it was the Ford Falcon that became the basis for the creation of such a famous Mustang.

The first modification of the model came in the 67th year. Externally, the model has not changed, but the engine power has increased - in the 2.8 model it reaches 105 "horses".

In 1969, the XW model appeared, in which the front sofa was replaced with two seats, and the power increased by another 50 horsepower.

The XY model, released in '70, features a longer front end and a new 247 horsepower engine. In addition, this modification gets dual headlights.

Two years later, the Ford Falcon XB comes out. This model has a very unusual shape - the cabin body smoothly passes into the trunk, creating a pointed rear. This car has only two doors, but the eight-cylinder engine, whose power is equal to 238 "horses", has two gearboxes - manual and automatic.

Seven years later, in 1979, the XF appears. It has a shape close to the first model, and the engine power is similar - it reaches 120 "horses".

Until the twenty-first century, Ford produces five more modifications of this model - EA, EB, EF (4 and 5.8 GT) and XR6.

The latest is the 2003 XR8, which is a completely different car from the original Ford Falcon. With its soft, flowing lines, this four-door, sleek sedan bears no resemblance to the car that started it all. And the engine of this modification is much more powerful - 220 "horses" instead of the original 90.
