BMW E28 is a car of the world-famous German manufacturer, which replaced the model that was very popular at that time, and it was the E12 body. But, I must say, this development has become no less in demand and bought.

History

So, the history of the BMW E28 begins in 1981. At that time, the manufacturer offered potential buyers four engine options. By the way, the first diesel engine in the history of the company appeared at the same time.

It was installed from the very beginning of production on models such as 524 td, 525i, and 528i. Since 1985, it has appeared on other cars. The next innovation that manufacturers decided to implement is a differential with the so-called limited slip. The coefficient should be noted - its indicator is 25%. Also, all models that were produced after the 518th have power steering.

The vast majority of cars have a five-speed manual gearbox. Although it all started with three steps. Gradually, the production of the BMW E28 was improved - an electric drive for side mirrors appeared, a system for maintaining a certain temperature in the cabin and other details were installed.

The standard power was 277 horsepower, but especially for European buyers, this figure was increased to 286. M88 / 3 - this is what this engine had. By the way, the version created for North American buyers is slightly weaker - the engine power is reduced to 256 horsepower.

Tuning - that's what it's all about. This model proved to be very successful for this kind of work. Some decide to change its appearance by lowering the landing or trimming the roof. Others improve the interior, others take on work that will help make their car better technically. One of the most notable is the Alpina B9. The company's specialists decided to replace the 2.8-liter engine with a 3.5-liter one, widen the intake ports, make the camshaft more aggressive and increase the compression ratio.
