“Mercedes 210” is a business class car that replaced the famous and legendary Mercedes w124. This model was published from 1995 to 2002 inclusive as a sedan and station wagon (designated S210). There's a lot to be said about this car.

“Mercedes 210” is a rather original car in terms of body and exterior. Designers in the image of this model embodied their unusual ideas, which have never been typical for Mercedes. Interior

Inside, everything is decorated, of course, in the best traditions of the Mercedes-Benz brand. The interior is similar to that of the classic W124. On the dashboard, right under the speedometer, a fairly wide multifunction display of the on-board computer appeared. Also, manufacturers decided to place convenient buttons for controlling the audio system, mobile phone and navigation on the steering wheel. Still brand new at that time, Mercedes-Benz acquired a five-speed automatic transmission equipped with a manual gearshift function. And the manufacturers have decided that the W210 will have an ESP system as standard.

The salon looks good, stylish, strict, but tasteful. Of course, only the best, high-quality, wear-resistant materials were used. And, of course, it is impossible not to note the comfortable seats, in which both the driver and passengers feel great.

It is also worth noting that the interior of the car has a stylish aluminum lining with the Mercedes-Benz branding. Air conditioning, airbags, climate control, steering wheel and headrests adjustable in all directions, heated seats and windows (both front and rear), curtains and much more - all this, of course, is included in the car. So the ride becomes not only fast, butyet comfortable and safe.

Specifications

“Mercedes 210” received independent suspension. A two-lever was located in front, and a five-lever was located in the back. Each of these was equipped with anti-roll bars.

For this model, Mercedes-Benz decided to use a V6 engine for the first time. They were asked to replace the "native" eight and six. The new power unit, developed by the Stuttgart concern, could produce 204 horsepower and accelerated to a hundred kilometers in less than seven seconds. This engine was a success. That is why other motors began to appear a little later. The most powerful was considered an atmospheric power unit, the volume of which was 5.4 liters. The E55 AMG was also a success.

But in 2000, diesel engines were no longer produced. "Mercedes 210" began to be produced exclusively with gasoline. In the period from 2000 to 2002, something new appeared. And these were Common Rail power units equipped with a direct fuel injection system. And in diesel engines! A completely new solution, embodied in a car like the Mercedes 210. Diesel has become even more popular because of this.

Gasoline options

Mercedes W210 has a fairly wide range of engines. Gasoline only 12 pieces, diesel a little less -eight. Total - twenty different options! The E200 is considered the “weakest” gasoline engine: its volume is two liters, and its power is 136 “horses”. Cars with this engine were published for five years. The most powerful option, as already mentioned, is the E55 AMG, and a step below this unit is the E430 4.3-liter, 297-horsepower. There is also an analogue - E420, its volume differs slightly - 4.2 liters, otherwise the characteristics are the same.

The E320 CDI with 197 horsepower is considered the most powerful diesel engine, followed by the turbocharged E300 with 177 hp. With. In general, the line is not poor, so there was a buyer for each model.

Model improvement

Every year, manufacturers released more and more new versions. Specialists constantly discovered some defects and corrected them, believing that there is no limit to perfection. The right approach, because otherwise those diesel engines and the AMG version would not have appeared.

The developers did their best in 1999. Then they revealed many assembly defects and made a radical update, eliminating almost all the shortcomings. In addition, the power of many engines was increased. The most recent change took place in 2000. Then it was decided to install a supercharger on the M111 model E200. And this is the only one in the “Compressor” series. Then, in 2000, an improved, modernized version was released, which became known as the Millennium. Under the hood, he could have installed M112 or M113.

About transmission

“Mercedes E-Class 210” could be equipped with a 5- or 4-speed automatic (like its predecessor W124). Two years after the start of production, a new, five-speed transmission equipped with electronic control was installed. What can be said about this? This innovation (this gearbox can be called such) was first installed on the 1996 model - on the W140. It was new back then. Today, many Daimler AG vehicles are equipped with such a gearbox.

By the way, at that time the concern even developed oil for gearboxes. It significantly increased the life of the transmission. The owners of this model were satisfied with the company's decision to create a special oil. If you change it every 130,000 kilometers (give or take 20,000), the gearbox will last forever.

AMG

Every person who understands cars, seeing this abbreviation, understands that a special Mercedes awaits him. 210 body also has an AMG version. The tuning studio, which is a division of Mercedes, has brought the car to perfection (as they say). The AMG versions used four engines. The first version of the car from the studio appeared a year after the start of production in 1996. Under the hood of the car, the engine, known as the M104.995, thundered. Then the studio brought to the attention of potential buyers of the E50 AMG. This model was produced only for one year. But the 354-horsepower 5.5-liter E55 AMG became the crowning achievement.

By the way, the studio also released a speci altop version. It was made exclusively to order. And it was a Mercedes E60 AMG. Its engine was the most powerful and produced 381 horsepower.

About cost

Well, everyone knows that the Mercedes W210 is no longer new, but the language does not dare to call it old. This car belongs to the category of German classics, which many people appreciate, respect, love. Many still want to buy a “big-eyed” for their use, because the car is really good. What can be said about the cost of a car like the Mercedes 210? The price of this car in good condition will not be cheap, despite the fact that the car is in any case more than 15 years old. So, for example, a version with a 3-liter 231-horsepower gasoline engine in good condition can cost about 950,000 rubles. And that's almost a million! A more “adult” model, 1997, for example, will cost much less - 300,000 rubles. But the technical specifications will be appropriate. For that price, you can buy a 2.4-liter version with an automatic transmission and quite high mileage.
